Guys, the 7.62x39mm is NOT an inaccurate cartridge. It's even been proven here by someone that's separated surplus Czech stuff into batches (using a special tool that measures the ogive or something) has demonstrated it capable of reasonably good accuracy. The reason most people get poor groups is because they're either using a rifle that was poorly assembled with loose tolerances (ie. commercial SKS) and typically TERRIBLE sights, or they presume the cartridge is inaccurate and tend to shoot it that way (self fulfilling prophecy), or they're just lousy shots altogether.
True you won't be seeing the 7.62x39 winning benchrest matches anytime soon, but do your part with an accurate rifle and decent ammo and it won't shoot any worse than other common calibers. It would not surprise me to hear of a good SKS with a Tech sight and handloads shooting 1.5 MOA.
