Media Stuck in Cases

After resizing I've been cleaning my cases in corn cob media to get any resizing wax off. I use the redding imperial sizing wax. This last time I either used too much wax on the inside of the necks, and a bunch of media got stuck inside the necks of my cases. I removed as much as I can, but some cases still have one or two corn cob granules inside the case at the base which I have been unable to get out.

Do you think it is safe to shoot these cases as is? Flashholes and necks are clear, and there is really just one or two granules at the base. The perfectionist in me wants to get them out, but I've spent a lot of time trying without any success. It's either shoot them or toss them out.

Any type of grease cutting solvent or soap mixed with water, will clean all the wax or lube from your brass quite well.

You didn't mention calibre. I personally see no problem, but I guess the potential is there for them to raise the pressure - a little bit - if it's a tiny case. So, tiny case with max loads might - might - be a problem. Anything else, I don't see it as an issue.

In any case, if the stuff is stuck inside the case, I can't see it having anything to do with the outside lube. Imperial is great stuff and it's not runny, so I can't see how it could get all the way down to the base.

I have the felling that all of you people who are discussing ways to remove the excess Imperial wax, are using a way to much in the first place.
I used to do the same thing. Now, I just wipe my fingers lightly over the wax, then handle about three cases with my fingers, before gently wiping them over the wax again.
When you are all finished, a dry cloth will quickly wipe the cases clean.

I am pretty sure I used too much this time and it gummed inside the necks. The corncob absorbed some of the wax and swelled up and got all gummy. The corn that I did removed was very gummy. Next time around I think I'll just use a q-tip and lightly coat the inside neck OR just remove the expander ball anyways. The corn that got stuck at the bases I think got pushed down there when I cleaned the necks out with a brush.

The cases are 308 and I'm not running max loads but I'm close (within .5 grain)

I'll try soaking and drying these ones out. Thanks.

K. If it's just a couple of bits in the bottom, I wouldn't worry about them. You can be pretty sure they won't be there after you fire them. If you really are bothered about them, a bit of lighter fluid or nailpolish remover should dissolve the wax inside pretty well.

H4831 - as is so often that case - is right about the wax. Just tap one finger lightly on the wax and that will give you enough lube for a couple of cases. The stuff is slippery and you don't need much.

One suggestion somebody on this forum made (and I keep forgetting who) WRT lubing the inside of case necks involves some fine lead shot in a pill bottle or 35mm film canister. Give it a good shot of powdered graphite, put the lid on and give it a good shake. To use it, just push the casings mouth-first into the shot down to the shoulder. That's it - case is adequately lubed inside. No fuss, no mess, no cleanup. Give the canister a shake every so often.

I NEVER lube the inside of necks with any liquid or wax. Dry graphite or Motor Mica only.
Lube the outside of the case body with Imperial sizing wax.

Here's a trick: Take about 3 tablespoons of #8 shot and put it in an old pill container [plastic with no neck]
Add a tablespoon of powdered Graphite. Close lid and shake it up well.

Now when you want to lube inside your case necks, just dip them in the graphite coated shot and give a quick twist.
Lube outside of case body with sizing wax and size away.

Close the lid of the pill container and shake once in a while.
Little bit of graphite goes a long way.
Just add more when it needs it.

I suggested the pill bottle with fine lead shot mixed with powdered graphite a while back, that's all I have used for neck lubrication for over 20 years now.

Thanks for the advice, the lead shot + graphite idea is a good one. Looks like redding even sells such a thing themselves. I'll be more careful with the sizing wax from now on.
Cheers.

Bang on. Nothing more to say.

Oh I lied. Compressed air will blow them out of the cases. I usually blow my cases out as the last step before priming and loading.
