I've been sizing and de-priming before tumbling, but I'm finding cases with a bit of media stuck on the inside of the shoulder. It's a real pain to get out, should I worry about it or tumble before sizing? If it matters this is corn cob (1/4" I think) and I tried using less lube but the die sticks right away.

I'm guessing if I leave the bits of media it will jeopardize consistency?

I tumble before sizing - cleaner cases going in to the die, so the die doesn't get scratched. Also I hate picking media out of flash holes.

If you want to decap before tumbling, get a depriming die, then tumble, then size.

Just as MarkII has said. The purpose of tumbling is to clean your cases before you stick them through the die not after. Dirty brass creates premature wear of the die and even runout on reloaded rounds.

I decap using a universal die, then tumble. I got sick of the media sticking in flash holes, so switched to very fine crushed walnut shell sold in pet stores for lizard cages. Not as shiny-new, but it does not clog.

I deprime, then tumble, then resize. If you have a problem with corncob plugging your cases up (I do, in 223) try using rice. I use the cheapest bulk white rice. Works nice but you may have to punch the occasional grain out of your flash holes.
