Meet the new Heckler & Koch G38 German rifle ...

I love how people get on here and argue about which rifle is the best service rifle out there, and start talking about rails and other BS. 99% of the people carrying and using rifles in the militaries of the western world are likely able to hit a man sized target at 100m and nothing more. They are likely using iron sights or fixed zoom optics like a C79 and have shot less than 100 rounds in the last 6 months. In the end the killing power of NATO is more likely to be increased by introducing more training on arty fire missions than by any increase in accuracy introduced by $3000 plus rifles all around.

H&K has developed the latest gen AR variant, it's nice and shoots well enough for the average soldier to hit a man at a few hundred metres... Where is the rage hate coming from? Too many games of CoD? Too much time sitting on the range in Canada printing groups? Maybe too much time playing soldier in the mirror with your high speed low drag kit?

I had a G36 long long long long time ago. Let's say I was not impressed and the zero did shift (probably because the Hensoldt 3X sight as issued to the Germany army is garbage) There is only one pin that keeps the rifle together, and it is not captive. There isn't anything special about this rifle, other than it is for mass production.

The MR series is a quality piece though. The price is ridiculous for a 556 rifle, especially in the EU, but it does deliver. Let's put aside the quality of the fit and finish ( yeh I know, but….) One thing I really like the MR series is that it is NOT picky about ammo at all. It will shoot any ball ammo under 2MOA ( I do all testing at 200m) even with a turned down barrel. It is a consistent performer.

Sure, you can build a match rifle or SPR with better accuracy with less than that money, but that is not the point. The point is that it is a super high end rifle that is designed to be a "rack grade" rifle. It is like buying a MRAP, but surly for the money you can buy 3 Porsche 911 if speed is what you only care.

Still have to take your hand off the pistol grip to #### the rifle? Pitiful.

At least they gave it a removable trigger guard for winter use. That's a feature only about 40 years in the making.

Those picatinny nail files sure are uber-kuhl, LOL, but I'm not sure what you can put on them and still use the "forestock" for holding the rifle.

I guess it needs a pistol grip up front.

Not sure why the L shaped mount for that rear optical sight, but one good bump and it'll be FUBAR.

I'd rather have an Stgw44 if there was some actual fighting to be done.

I'm guessing it's a sop to "NATO standardization" and maybe built with export in mind, after all they had good success selling the MP5 SMG to all and sundry.

"Thanks for the free ammo and range time. Hope this helps you get your guys better guns, now I am going to publicly sewer you and your department by name, hope your career was as fun as having friends was for me."

If people can say something is awesome because they heard it on the internet I can say I have actually used that same thing and found it to be far less than awesome. Take it or leave it.

Am I missing something? I don't remember saying anything of the sort to you. If this is getting off topic please do pm me and bring me up to speed? Did you compete with it or something?

What's with all the HK hate in here?

Yes, their products are pricier than most. So what? There are other options for those of us that can't afford HK.
If I won the lottery, I would get some HKs, for sure. For now I can't, but I'm not gonna get on their case for making good products.
Supply & demand + all the regulatory loops they have to jump through = $$$.

What's with all the HK hate in here?

I would also like to know lol. You don't like it great. What's with the bashing? I haven't seen anyone bashing it give me statistical evidence to show me the inferiority of hk designs for what they were designed to do.

While I am a fan of the HK416, I wouldn't have one. From what I have gathered a di ar for my role will perform equally well and weigh less. But from some people on this thread you would think it would be worse than a norc or nea or some junk like that.
