Meeting place for Newbies and Mentors - Alberta

Newbie looking for mentor

Hi, I am signed up for my course for Feb 3rd in Red Deer, once i get my PAL it would be great if there is someone willing to show me the ropes at any of the close by ranges. I am not a complete new with guns, I've owned a couple in the past and I've competed in the beginners category in 22 LR and shotgun clay pigeons. I've been at the Rocky mountain club as a guest of a friend of a friend but his job takes him away for most of the year. I've also rented guns at the west Edmonton mall range, Calgary shooting centre and Red Deer Shooting centre when they used to allow unlicensed walk ins.
A few of us that shoot ORPS 22 lr. and some long gong are meeitng at Barleys in Carstairs for wings... we will be the loud ones...

this is your invite to come and buy your own beer, eat your own wings and tell your own stories...

Last wednesday of february..

Probably the last wednesday of the month for the rest of the year...

Good day. New to the site - not new to firearms in the strict sense but have not owned firearms for over 25 years as I had another bad habit called owning an airplane. As with any great pass-time it was the money pit du-jour - lol! Just waiting for my PAL figured I would snoop around to see what the cool kids are doing...

Good day, I’m new here. Taking my Pal and rpal May 9, 10. What to get into sport shooting 5-200yrds to start. Thinking 17hmr but saw the 17 wmr which has me second guessing. Would appreciate feedback on the two. Also tips on sitting them in and all the lingo I’ve been reading.

Hi I had a full privileged account years ago and I am a disabled combat veteran who joined on my 17th birthday back in 1998, definitely not for the $, did 12 years and went to Para Coy, Multi-deploments etc
I live in Edmonton and have the pleasure to step outside with my morning coffee and see Burka's and man jammies.

This thread seems dead but if I am going to get protein in the fall I will need a mentor.

I have an RPal that was in the RCMP data for well over a decade. I am late to the game, well aware of the current state of affairs. Proficiency on every Mil Spec weapon.

I am probably posting in the wrong area as I would like to make use of the 2 Alder RF 224's which are accurate to about 22 yards for a tight grouping. I have a 308 Tikka for hunting and 2 just under $500 Adler Turksish aluminum barreled 11" inches.
l used the last of my funds for now to pick up a Ruger 10/22 that I spent less on then the Alder .
Bass Pro shop had a deal with a scope and case included.
I cannot post in the WTB section as I do not have the ability to post there.
I would like to make a tactical 22lr.
One of the Alder's needs to be serviced by a gunsmith of I can use it for a build.

80% of the firearms market goes to the US and we have frankinfireams which hurt the small businesses the most all by a corrupt puppet by decree.

I do not go on apps or forums much anymore but I am looking for some assistance with hunting and my Tactical 22lr build.
Thanks in advance.

Hi yall,
New here and live in Calgary currently. would be interested in meeting other locals interested in going shooting etc.
From BC originally, so it's been a grind finding local(ish) public land areas to shoot.
