Meeting place for Newbies and Mentors - BC

For a bolt .22, svage mrk II seem good. For a .22 in general semi-auto ruger 10/22 is good beause you can buy mags and such and they are easy to maintain. I am stuck between which of these myself but I am leaning towards the ruger 10/22. The savages start at about 200 and go up to about 500. One model has peep sights, one has normal iron and the rest are set up for scopes. The peep sight with heavy barrel seems good, I've heard they are made in Lakefield ON. I'll still probably go with the ruger though. This is just the opinion of someone who like rimfire, I am not a pro by any means, BTW on youtube iraqveteran8888 has some good videos describing 5 entry level 22s and also many more informative videos. Him and his friend work in a gun store and share both new knowledge and 'oldtimey' knowledge.

Are there any clubs in the GVR (or the island?) that have 100yrd+ range for rifles? Or do you have to go out into the bush to do any long range practice?

Is there anyone that shoots a S&W M&P at the Nanaimo Fish and Game club that would let me put a few rounds through theirs?

I'm thinking about buying an M&P9 and would really like to try one before I commit. Ideally I'd like to try the 9mm, but would settle for a .40 or .45 cal (got a box of .45ACP sitting around waiting to get fired, but no matching firearm).

Will bring my own ammo, just let me know what caliber to get ahead of time and I'll come prepared.

Cheers, Kyle.

You can go to DVC and pay a day admission then try different pistols. Its a great place to go if you are thinking of buying a pistol and wanna try before you buy. Unfortunately, DVC doesn't have a large selection of pistols.

If you are getting a gun yourself then you can go to Port Coquitlam & District Hunting & Fishing Club.

any where out in the bush I can shoot hopefully not past Chilliwack any one go out to the westwood platue area Ive seen ppl go riding out there not sure about plinking sorry for all the noob questions guys

I am going to take my course for my license soon PAL and RPAL, and need to join a Gun Club. Thinking of the MISSION & DISTRICT ROD & GUN CLUB, a friend from the Quesnel Gun Club recommended it. Is this a good club, I want to do more then just some plinking, I want to get accurate and such, still a little new. Anyone I can chat with and pick their brain on this club.

Hi
I've been a member there for a while and very happy...Good ranges (300yd rifle range) well kept, decent clubhouse, nice feel about the place and good yearly rates. There's previous posts somewhere regarding various ranges.
Message me and we'll exchange some details...

Hi

Completed my CFSC/CRFSC and now applying for my PAL. I live in Burnaby and I am interested in meet an experience gun owner to show me the various aspect of shooting. Shot once at DVC with handguns, shotgun and a semi auto pistol caliber rifle. As a history buff I would really want to meet a mentor that has a Lee Enfield. For me it holds a special place in my heart, the last rifle of empire, its unique 10 round capacity which was out of the ordinary for bolt action rifles of its day, Canadians fought two major wars with it, etc... I will pay for the ammo used and chip in for gas.

Hey all,

I'm in Langley and awaiting my PAL in the mail. I went ahead and joined the Langley gun club as I've enjoyed trap quite a bit but still have limited experience. If anyone around the area would like to go I'd be happy to try out a few guns as I consider my first purchase. I'd be more than happy to shoot a few rounds and pay for clays and ammo and some coffee. Any tips appreciated.

Thanks all!

Hey all;

I've had my (R)PAL license waiting in Miramichi since May 30th, and they're still just in the basic stages of processing.

Is there anyone in the Kelowna area who'd be willing to take me out shooting?
In addition to the PAL training, I've been trained with and safely used handguns (Glock 17, SIG P226, and Browning Buckmark) at two occasions in the past at a US range, and one of those times I also used a CZ 452.
I've completed my CORE as well.

I'm happy to foot the bill for some ammunition, gas money, range fee, et cetera, and I've got some Shoot-N-C targets I could bring.

PM me if anyone's interested, I guess?
I'm not a yahoo, I love target shooting.

Hello everyone,

I'm a new shooter around kamloops. Been looking to get a membership at the ktsa range here, but I don't have anyone as a reference from the range.

As such, if anyone is knowledgeable on any good spots one can safely practice target shooting in the area? Got a nice .22 I'd like to start getting familiar with, though I haven't anywhere to go.

If anyone frequents the Poco district hunting and fishing club, I don't have much available in terms of mentor ship, and I'd really appreciate a few pointers. I'm typically free any weekday when the range is open.

Hey all,

New member here from Surrey, got my RPAL back in March. I'm a member out at Mission Rod & Gun, great club so far -only been a couple times. Would be cool to meet up with some other newbs or vets to show me some tips and tricks. Hooping to step up my attendance now that my summer work blitz is over. Shoot me a msg!

Thanks for giving people the idea to mentor, I live in the nelson area and am looking to purchase some restricted firearms and do some shooting. Im experienced with long guns and own a few but just got my restricted licence. Any info on shooting clubs in my area and good first buys would be appreciated. IM interested in semis and pistols.
Thank in advance
