another newbie

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie here, just bought my first gun (finally), it's a little .22LR rimfire but you gotta start somewhere.

I live in Surrey area and from my online searches, the closest range is the one in Port Coquitlam. Is there anything closer that I have missed ?

This just occurred to me: do I need to register the gun ?

A really new "noobie" here. Just finished a course and will be sending in the paperwork to the Feds in the next week. I plan on just getting a .22, probably used.

I live in the Valley, if there is anyone around that would like to have a "guest" with them in a month or two, please send a pm.

Thanks

Hi, soon to be 'first time' gun owner. Placing my order tommorrow for a shiny new .45 ACP 1911.

Hoping to meet up with someone to learn a few things. In the past, guns have been handed to me, I empty the clip, then hand them back.

Now, being the owner, I will need to know stuff like basic gun maintenance:

-Field stripping
-Cleaning
-How often I need to do the above
-Anything else I'm not aware of that comes with owing a handgun

Also, before I head to the range, it would be nice to know some basic range etiquette so I don't make an ass of myself.

I am from Langley btw.

Thanks,

6Gun

Newbie from Surrey/Langley, BC

Hello all. I'm wondering if there's any member of the Langley Rod & Gun Club in BC who's interested in showing a newbie around. I've just become a member, have my Ruger Mk III and my ATT - just need to get some targets (I assume?) and head out. I'd rather have someone experienced around so I don't make a HUGE fool of myself. =)

Good gun club in the BC Lower Mainland?

Just wondering what are the better gun clubs out here in the Surrey/Langley BC area. I've noticed a few people on the forum are members of the PoCo range, and I see the friendly moderator tootall is a member at Ridgedale.

I checked out Langley Rod & Gun, but they seem a bit miserable to me. I'm just looking for a fun, welcoming place to shoot my .22 pistol and work my way up from there. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hello everyone! I'm a newbie here and I have just purchased a SKS as my first firearm. I live in Vancouver area, and I am wondering where else can I go for range shooting other than the one in PoCo. I would like to meet you all at the range someday.

Check out Mission Rod & Gun.

Also Thompson Mountain. Web site seems to be suddenly down for some reason. I'll be checking out both PoCo and Thompson, which are both reasonably close to Van, when I get my rifle sometime next year ;)

Well I just joined GUNNUTZ and must say that it is full of awesome responses and questions. Anyone have any good suggestions on a handgun to buy? I just want one for plinking.

plinking

I have no real idea which gun would be best for you. I am just in the midst of purchasing a Sig mosquito for my first handgun.

I expect to move up in power, but, not right now.

Beretta 92fs bud.... very accurate and very reliable.
Looks good too!

Use cci minimags then for less F.T.F. I know that some bulk packs of other brands don't rack the slide like they should.

I go to Thompson Mountain in Pitt Meadows 2-3 times a month and sometimes Abby, and rarely go to Mission with bolt action rifles due to their 1 bullet per mag rule.

I am going to join up with PoCo for their 2010 season as well in Mid December. I usually go very early for when the clubs open, and leave mid afternoon.

I shoot black rifle mostly and am working on my handgun basics.

I live in yaletown area and would have room for 1 or 2 people... if someone needs a ride to share gas expenses and you are nearby or on the way and without a vehicle - PM me, we can arrange something :)

My Toyota SUV gets 22 mpg so its decent on gas and fits some gear.
