Meeting place for Newbies and Mentors -Ontario

I have had a cancellation from usual partner for first 4 days of Ontario whitetail rifle season. Would consider having a new hunter to join me. Must be willing to help butcher (I can cut, you wrap) and other chores. Chisholm township WMU 48. Comfortable walk-in off-grid camp. Private property. Stands are set up. Just need rifle, sleeping bag, clothes, good attitude.

Good luck guys! I just bought 13 acres in WMU 49. Off grid but we live here.surrounded by crown land. Hoping to get my first buck this season. My daughter got one on video couple days ago. So stoked!

How is the little cabin holding up?

Beauty. I spent a lot of time this fall clearing shooting lanes in front of stands. This paid off when new hunter from above post came for 4 days and on day 2 dropped a doe at 120 yards. Then my son joined me later last week and on the first morning watch killed his first buck.
Camp is small but cozy with finally everything complete. New parking lot off the township road was made this year and I also cut new trail to get to the camp. I thought I had everything pretty much complete and ready to spend all my time with recreation, but wife is making noises about a guest cabin for the grandchildren to come visit. I'm thinking about deer food plots...

Afternoon fellas, just looking to see if there are any mentors in the Dufferin area who can help me further advance my knowledge on firearms.

I have a couple items already, but always looking to learn and get better. If there anyone who's local who help mentor it would be great.

Also, coffee and donuts on me!

Not new to firearms but was hoping a member or mentor can take me to their range/gun club so I can zero in my scope? Just made a new purchase and need to sight in the scope. This is mostly for people that are going to the range anyways, I can just tag along. PM me. Thanks!!

Thinking to get a browning A-bolt chambered in 308. I am hunting whitetail. 2Q:

Is it worthy to do the extra push and try to get and X-bolt?
Should I maybe look at other brands?

Newbie here as it can be, any word would help.

Hey guys,

I'm new to Gun Nutz and am currently waiting on my my PAL - Apparently they need 4-6 months to process!? Any way, I'm in Otawa if there is anyone who is keen to connect?

Regards,
Joelmac

So, i moved this post from the general section to here.

Hello Everyone, Im new to shooting (In Ontario).
Any advise on clubs accepting new members around New Tecumseth/Barrie/Orillia area?
I never realized it would be so hard to find a shooting range lol

I'm in Barrie and have sent out numerous requests in the areaa. The only club that has since replied was Target Sports. It's just south of Aurora. They are accepting new "Associate" members which after a certain time can be converted to Full Membership.

Good Luck!

Not a new shooter, but new to the forum and relatively new to ON. Seems like many gun clubs/ranges in Ontario artificially cap their membership, have lengthy wait lists. Is this just me? I've lived in most provinces, but never found it as hard to find a range as in southern ON (I am in Kingston).

It's definitely difficult to get into a range as a newbie without connections but I think the more we contribute and get to know others here over time, we may find some connections of our own. I'm just happy there is SO much info to access in the meantime.

Hi

Super new to this, and looking for a mentor to talk to, to better understand the scene (In Ontario).

Anyone in the Scarborough East, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa area, please PM me if you are open to chat.

Cheers,
C

What would be the best way for some one to wet their feet in the world of trap/skeet? Any public ranges or clubs I should look into? Also would i look dumb shooting my 12ga. beretta side by side ? It’s my upland/rabbit gun. Thanks
