Meeting place for Newbies and Mentors -Ontario

Hello,

I’m new the sport of target shooting and was thinking about joining GSC shooting range in Oshawa. Does anyone have any experience with range?

Hi everyone! Dan here from Toronto, recently aquired my RPAL and have a beautiful CZ457 Premium on the way to me now. New to getting it all setup with scopes etc and looking forward to the journey. Would love to connect with others here for mentorship and shooting buddies and would also appreciate some range or club recommendations so that I can get as much downrange as possible over the coming months. Looking forward to connecting with you guys!

Hey Folks, my name is Alex! From the Alliston area, and I'm starting to get into long range precision shooting. Just joined the Ontario Rifle Association, and hopefully will be a member at the Eagle Lake Gun Club soon. Being a photographer, I'm hoping to start volunteering for some clubs & organization to get more involved in the community, so you might see me at an event shooting my camera instead of my rifle!

If anyone is a member at Eagle Lake or the ORA, would love to connect with you. Don't know very many people with their PALs yet.

Here's a photo of my first and only rifle - A Tikka T3x CTR 6.5CM in a KRG Xray Chassis.

The ihunter app is supposed to be good for locating crown land. I'm just getting into looking for crown land so I can't speak from first-hand experience, yet.

I'm in Ottawa so I'm sure it won't be too hard to find something relatively close, and if anyone is willing to share their spot or wants to do some exploring together feel free to shoot me a message. I want to ring some steel at some long distances if possible. I'm looking to camp and fish too, so if you're kitted out for that, that's even better.
Hello, were you successful is using that app?

The only success ive had is just tagging along with friends :).

I'm in the Mississauga area. RPAL holder, but unfortunately no HGs to my name. Considering joining a club that does loaners, but also interested in long range and clay shooting. I plan to do some duck hunting, so clay is the more practical, but I also enjoyed target shooting with the hang guns a lot in my younger years. I have some serious regrets from not staying active in my knowledge and not getting in before the freeze despite having my RPAL since 2006. Anyway, any recommendations on a club that offers all around options? No problem for me to drive a couple hours to go to a place that I can spend the whole day at.

Hi. Craig here from Hamilton. Two of my brothers introduced me to shooting this year, (one is a member at East Elgin and the other at Easthill). I now own a Stoeger M3000 shotgun and a Mossberg Patriot 6.5 Creedmoor. Looking forward to my first hunting experiences this year.

Hey Craig. I'm also a newbie and a soon to be member for East Elgin.

Hamilton Gun Club does clays - skeet, trap and sporting. There is also the "Skeet School" run out of there by the Canadian Gun Vault which I highly reccommend. However, if you don't want to drop that kind of coin, there are members (like myself) that dont mind taking newbies out

I appreciate the reply. The place looks very nice! So far I have been liking Silverdale, since it has the rifle ranges as well as trap. I will for sure check this place out if I see they have a non member day, or if I get very into the clay shooting specifically along the way. I went for my first few rounds of trap just last week. I used an old stevens 311a SxS. My shoulder was cooked! So I am looking around for something that I can shoot 75+ rounds and not have a purple shoulder a week later. :ROFLMAO:

Haven't seen any non member days, but feel free to shoot me a DM and we can see about getting you out there. No.9 shot for skeet, and I think its 10bucks a round for guests

Hello everyone,

I’m a new member here and recently bought my first rifle - a Howa mini action in .223
I’m based in Mississauga and looking forward recommendations on ranges that allow non-members to shoot. I’d love to get some trigger time and start getting familiar with the rifle.
Any suggestions for friendly spots (indoor or outdoor) where I can go as a guest or pay per visit would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance..
