Turkey has some of the best manufacturing facilities in the world. the modern factories have top quality CNC machines that are superior in numbers to US and most of the western world. if you think of Turkey as a backwards country, think again.

Whatever. Their country is named after a bird.

Top quality German/Japanese CNC machines.

You guys have it all wrong.

If it gets us cheap 416's then who cares? Marstar has shown us many times that Turkey is willing to sell us guns (unlike some countries).

At least from Turkey instead of china QC will be a bit better.

Oh, and you don't have to put an ELCAN on your Prophet rifle.

Propaganda aside, the more guns, the merrier.

Turkey was named for the Turks, believe it or not. Turk can mean either 'a citizen of the modern state of Turkey' or more broadly, 'an individual of the Turkic-speaking people.' The many Turkic languages are spoken not only in Turkey but also in a large area of central Asia and in northern Siberia. The real question is the origin of the name Turk. The word is essentially the same in many languages, including English, Turkish, Arabic, and Persian (Farsi). It probably comes from some Turkish root, but there's no consensus on which one. It may be one root meaning 'strong' or 'vigorous' (according to the American Heritage Dictionary) or it may be another meaning 'the people' (according to the Encyclopedia Americana).

During the period of the empire, the Turkish name for the country had nothing to do with the Turks. Rather, it was named for the Osman (Ottoman) dynasty that ruled it. Another theory has it that the English named the country after the bird, as a taunt. But the country was already called 'Turki' or 'Turkeye' in English by 1275, hundreds of years before the bird was known in the Old World.

Just so you know, eh? :D

I'm somewhat interested in Turkish guns. Not my 100% favorite country with their Ottoman/Young Turk past, but I try to hold my grudges to 80 years, so they're effectively in the clear these days. Their factory employees can vote in democratic elections and hold passports and travel freely. NATO membership is a big + as well. If we ever go to big war, Turkey will be our ally, not an adversary. I guess they already are.

I'm sure I've bought cars built by Turks manning German robots in Germany. I'm sure Turks manning German CNCs in Turkey can turn out something I can support.

Turkey doesn't send boatloads of guns and ammo to Mugabe in Zimbabwe or Burma, Sudan, Iran, etc.

So tell me more.

Those B&T Mp5s are made with Turkish components......these guys had been building HK stuff for a long long time. I think couple years ago they want to do HK33 when the HK tried to push the G36 on them. I guess that it must have fallen through.

Some 416 uppers will be nice. I will totally buy it.

Those people have no idea about firearms.... I LOL'ed at the "comparison" proving it's a marvel of Turkish engineering.
