Hey Gang
Long ago in 1977 when I was 12 my Dad gave me a 22 for my birthday
I cant remember the make but it was a semi with a tube magazine that would hold eleven short rounds
It burned in a house fire when I was 14 never had one since
It was probably a early 70's or late 60's just a guess that is all I can remember!
My dad is in a nursing home now and his memory is all but gone so I cant ask him so I am asking you all would any of you venture a guess to this very vague but important question
I would love to have one again any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Springfield 187N, perhaps? I know that's what we used to plink with on the farm as kids, shooting cans we stuck up in ground-level branches or on fenceposts, gophers, muskrats, etc.

Here's a pic I found on the 'net (not mine):

I grew up in Alberta was that a common 22 there?

Where was the mag, under the barrel or in the buttstock? 11 shorts is a small capacity for a tube mag. Even 11LR is pretty small cap, my Mossberg 151M holds 15 LR and that mag is through the butt and looks prett short compared to the under barrel ones.

11 shorts....in a tube mag...wow that's not much to go on. Google would be your friend for finding it. Only gun I know about that holds that few rounds is a Lever and is a Restricted and RARE!!!!! Though I've only seen a picture of it don't know the manufacturer of it. Sorry.

Maybe poke around and see if you can find fire insurance claims forms from way back when. It seems like that is the sort of thing they make you provide make and model for. You never know what gets kept paper wise.

Like was asked before, details, like the location of the mag etc help. I know its a long time, but even stuff like sight type could pin it down. In short, post everything you can remember about the gun, maybe it will spark someones memory.

EDIT:
It could have been the Remington Nylon 66 GS, which seems to be the last semi auto produced designed for the short. The small mag cap would fit with the gallery shooting design. But the stock was nylon (well... zytel). Which I would hope you would remember.

Camrose sure does I grew up in the Drayton Valley area Entwistle to be exact!

Damn straight! Nice part of the world, I hunt down in that neck of the woods (closer to Bashaw, mind you) every year.

I don't know about 11 .22 Shorts, because I'm betting that our Springfield held probably 12-15 .22 LR... but other than that, your story seems to check out. A lot of other autoloaders had magazines instead of tubes; in fact, the old bolt-action we had was a mag-fed unit.

I was just a kid and I was sure it was 11 but I could be wrong or maybe it had something jammed in it.
Cleaning and looking after her involved putting it in the porch till I used it again.
I will look after the next one better if I ever figure it out.
The for sure info is what era it was and caliber and tube magazine
Dam I hate to say it but maybe my mind is slipping or I just forced myself to believe the rest of the details over the years
Thanks anyways lads!

Could the tube have been shortened due to damage? that would be the cause of the short count. One of the Cooey 60s i had given to me only held 9 LR due to the tube being altered due to a crimp from a fall against a rock. many repairs were necessary to keep the old girls working.
