Can anyone recommend a shop to do a repair on the focus mechanism on the above scope? s/n in the 5000000+ range so I am guessing late '50's/into the '60's.

That is a very old scope. I would recommend to contact a Meopta dealer. There is Brandon Optics and Bushcraft Canada who are out of B.C. Plus there is one business on CGN who is also a dealer. Canadian Outdoor Distributors is the main distributor of Meopta in Canada. Good Luck!
 
Thank you Track! I had found the Canadian Outdoor Distributors site but with the age of the scope thought someone might know of an independent that was likely more capable with the oldies.
 
Thanks Dale! Since I initially posted this I've managed to get the screw in the focus ring out ( even though the slot resembles a drainage ditch) and found out there has been severe interference of the stud portion of that screw and the rear slot face in the scope body - think of something resembling broken off rake teeth! Since the optics are still very nice I'll see if I can find a replacement screw at my LGS and file the rear slot face true before giving up on the DIY . Thanks again, Chuck.
