Got a pair of these a couple weeks ago. I ordered them and had them shipped so i didn't get to try them first but i have tried the Cabelas Euro HD which are pretty much identical. I always prefered the Cabelas Euros to just about anything they carry so i was pretty certain that these Meoptas were exactly what i wanted.
They showed up and after opening the box i was immediately reminded of their weight. I had forgotten how much more they weighed than my Bushnell Elite 8x43 which come in at 23oz i believe. I was a bit disappointed in the style of objective covers they had as they are pretty much useless cause they fall off when the binos are in a hanging position. The view through them was every bit as good as i remembered the Cabelas Euros to be and even better cause i didn't get to view them outside of the store. What i didn't realize until later was how good they actually are. I took them into my nearest hunting store and compared them to Leica Trinovids, Zeiss Conquest HD, Leupold Gold Ring and some others they had there. Before i discovered the Meoptas, I used to be blown away by the new Leica Trinovids but after comparing them to these, i honestly don't know how i was so impressed. The Meoptas to my eyes are clearer to the edges and brighter. I did feel the Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42 was just ever so slightly brighter and over all i liked them very much but i was getting black outs with them and decided that the miniscule amount brighter they were than the Meoptas was not worth living with black outs. The Meoptas were however every bit as sharp. I could not get the 8x Zeiss to work for me for some reason. I also compared the Meoptas to the new Vortex Razor HD which i always were very impressed with. Sadly i put them back quite quickly as i found they paled next to the Meoptas. Same sharpness in the sweet spot but not clear right to the edges like the Meostars. I did not compare against any Swaro as the price on them is over twice what i paid for the these.
After that day of comparing i decided that these Meoptas are definitely staying put and i will figure out a way around the poor objective cover issue. As far as the weight, im actually getting quite used to it now and to me now its a feel of a quality set of binos built like a tank.
I highly recommend these to anyone who is looking for some amazing binos and arent planning on splurging for a $2500 pair of Swaros. They are so bright and clear its crazy. I compared them against my Bushnell Elite 8x43 in very low light and these 10x42 can pull out detail longer into the dark than the Elites. That is pretty good for a 10x42 to out perform an 8x in low light. I couldnt be happier with these.
