Over the past three months I conducted some research into the noted above. There are no outlets in the Okotoks/Calgary area, let along Alberta, who carry these optics. Therefore, I researched on line the history of Meopta along with reviews from gun writers, hunters and shooters. Information was found on talk forums, gun writer blogs and You Tube. 99.9% was positive feedback on the product, many stated that the optics were just as good as Zeiss Victory and Swarovski V6 series. The big kicker is: Meopta is half the price of top-end Zeiss and Swarovski. Meopta manufacture in house, ALL of their products, whereas; Zeiss and Swarovski farm out their glass.
Anyway, I decided to roll the dice and purchased the Meopta R1r 3x12x56 RD. This scope has a 30mm main tube and a illuminated dot within a plex reticle that has 7 brightness settings. The price of the scope is equal to the Swarovski Z3 4x12x50 with a plex reticle.
Upon receiving the scope I tested it against the noted Swarovski. Well, Meopta wins! Needless to say I purchased another, same scope but with their illuminated cross hair within the plex. It has been mentioned that Meopta is "the best kept secret" with optics. Shhhhhh, don't tell anyone, but these premium optics are best bang for your buck.

I have a 6-24 ZD meopta and love it , it has a mil dot retical and a really cool rangeing scale along the bottom of retical .
It has MOA turrets which at first I was disappointed with but I have gotten used to dialing for elevation and using retical for windage and find myself cross training easily with MOA & MIl . I found mine at a discount because the illumination didn't work , I contacted meopta in an e mail and they imediatly sent me a new cap with the clip spring that holds the battery . While waiting I tried flipping the spring clip upside down and it works like a charm . It does drain the battery when not in use so I put a piece of wax paper over the battery when not in use . I sold my sightron s111 for this one after I tried them side by side , the glass I found comparable but the parralax adjustment on sightron was STIFF and I liked the turrets better on meopta ( just because , both track excellent )Great scope that will never be for sale

You're bringing back some bad memories. I sold my 4-16-44 tactical cause I hated the AO. But man I miss how good that glass is. I am rebarreling a my Savage 12 LRP to 6.5cm. And am saving up for another Meopta. Crazy good glass.
Still remember how shocked I was when I used it waiting for a big whitetail after sunset with only 10 mins left in hunting time. Damn I almost thought it was a night vision scope. It was overcast, and with the naked eye at 250 yards all I saw was its outline. Through the scope I could see the tines in vivid colour. Even could see the jagged edge of on busted off Tyne. Extremely good glass. Especially at Twighlight. And could easily spot my own shots at 300 yards at the range.
And it tracked great, and the ret and Illumination where great.
It's honestly depressing when I look through my Other glass at Twighlight now.lol. Definetly getting another.
And the lifelong transferable NA warrenty is great too.
I probably sound like a Meopta shill. Ha. But ya, best kept secret in glass out there.

i have two meopta scopes
one is around 13 yrs old and the other 3 yrs old.
i swear by them for the price and quality

amazing scopes,i will never buy another brand

I also have several Meoptas. The best one being the 4-16-44 ZD. This is not the same scope that Cabelas sells. The Cabelas Euro Instinct, now discontinued, are the Meopro line. The Meopro is assembled in the US whereas the Meostar line is built in the Czech Republic. I have both and there is a noticeable difference in glass quality. Especially as the sun sets.

I looked into possibly buying one or two of these scopes the problem is there isn't any Canadian distributor and therefore support would be quite inconvenient.

They are definitely some of the best optics I have used. After extensive testing and comparison with other high end optics I could not say anything bad about them.

Unfortunately the distributor went out of business a few months back and right now there is no representation in Canada. The warranty are being honored directly from Meopta USA or Czech Republic.

I thought that I would resurrect this older thread and let people know that there is a Meopta distributor in Canada. The distributor is "Canadian Outdoor Distributors." There are at least three dealers as well in Canada: Bushcraft Canada, Brandon Optics and Meoptica.

I don't get it, Canadian Outdoor Distributors has a long list, neither Meoptica nor Brandon optics or Bushcraft Canada are on that list.

On the Meopta main site, your can find only Bushcraft Canada and some "7315350 Canada Inc".

Did anyone deal with any of them, any experience?

i had for years in europe a meopta 2000 7x50 that worked so good for night hunting on high seat for wild boar reduction ... it was in those days a well kept secret. today a little less.
