Meopta scopes

Are they still being sold in Cabelas with the Cabelas branding?
I thought at one time the upper end cabelas were just re-branded Meopta

As I understand it the partnership between Cabela's and meopta ended when Bass pro acquired and or merged with Cabela's. The meopro scopes were made by meopta for Cabela's. The euro instinct meopros were european (czech made) with hd glass.

Interesting to see that I'm not the only one wondering why we can't find more Meopta scopes anywhere in Canada. The reviews on the Optika 6 have been great and all the previous lines were great scopes. The price point to features, durability weight and overall quality seems like a real hit. Hopefully at least a couple dealers in Canada catch on to the great products and value Meopta are providing and make them available to us.
Such a shame that a company like Vortex can get by with good marketing and squeeze out good optics from the market. Not to say Vortex doesn't have some decent high end stuff, but a lot of the lower end scopes people are buying is garbage.
I'm seriously considering importing an Optika 6 in 3-18, or 5-30 to see if it is as advertised and compare it to the other scopes I have.

Zaprosper

If you do buy one I would like to here a review of them

Special ordered a Meopta Optika 6 4.5-27x50 MRAD1 RD and it should be here in about 3 weeks or so. Once it comes in and I have a chance to play around with it, I'll do a little write up. Got some other scopes, both above and below that price range to compare it to. Looking forward to it. If it is as advertised from a lot of other forums, this should be a sweet scope with all the features and rock solid durability. I can provide more comments once I get it on price point, quality, glass etc.

Where did you special order yours?

Bushcraft Canada. I have been turned off by the retail pricing on his website for a bit, but if you give Paul with Bushcraft a call, he can offer some pretty competitive and enticing pricing. I was pleasantly surprised and placed my order. What exact model are you after? Availability on some still isn't the greatest and the model I got was the only FFP MRAD scope available.

Invested in a Meopta Meostar R1 Tactic about 14 years ago, atop a Husky 1900 in .25-06. That rifle is a LOOOONG range deer laser now.
Have tried Leupold and Zeiss and well the R1 is a far superior scope in as far as clarity, low light gathering, focus at max magnification, reticle thinness, and build quality.....
Highly Recommended...!

Was doing a search on the Meopta scopes which lead me to hear..........what can you tell me about your purchase? Thanks!

I ordered the 4.5-27, but Bushcraft was unable to get that one in so he ended up getting me the 5-30x56 MRAD instead. I'll start by saying that Paul was a great guy to do business with.
As for the scope, I really like it. After using it for a while, I really like almost everything about it. I find the reticle useable at all magnification ranges, the illumination works really good and the turrets are pretty good. My biggest gripe about the turrets is that the alignment on the markings is off around 6 or 7 on the elevation turret, but I'm sure I could get that fixed if it bothered me more.
The resolution on the scope is awesome and I find it comparable to some other scopes I have that cost a fair amount more. The edge to edge clarity is great too and the low light performance is decent. Optically I find this scope to be a great scope, which is what most people seem concerned about. At 30x magnification, the eyebox does get a little finicky(as with most) and the depth of field is just average. I do find the parallax adjustment makes it easy to remove parallax so the depth of field issue doesn't bother me too much when I mostly shoot fixed distances with it.
It is definitely a scope I would buy again if I needed something at that price point and would still like to try the 4.5-27, as I want to put something like that on my 204. Problem is my taste only gets more expensive haha. Meopta is a very reputable brand and worth at least considering. Feel free to ask me any other questions you have. I haven't shot much yet this year, but will be getting out more in the fall with it and a few others when things slow down.

Greatly appreciate the quick reply.......I was teetering at trying one of these scopes and you officially pushed me over the edge! Thanks!! Just have to decide on which exact model and reticle style? Will be used primarily for the gopher patch and the odd paper killing to weed out the good from grap ammo.

Ended up purchasing this from Bushcraft Canada: Meopta Optika 6 3-18x50 SFP 4D Dichro
Look forward to seeing how it compares to my Bushnell, Zeiss and Sightron scopes.
From what I've read/heard, should be a considerable upgrade........here's hoping!

What Bushnell, Zeiss and Sightron would it be compared to? Have had scopes from all 3 as well. I can say that optically it will be close to some offerings from all 3, but will have some nice features the others wouldn't

I have a couple Bushnell Tactical 4500's, a few Zeiss Conquest's and Sightron SIII's. Just purchased a couple Bushnell Forge models but have yet to mount either of those......first impression on those are the reticle dots are larger than I would prefer - besides that they look like very nice scopes. The Bushnell Forge and Meopta Opticka should be a better scope for the gopher patch as the parallax correction goes down to 10 yards where the other scopes I currently have do not go down that low.

It will definitely compare favorably to all of those models, although that would be assuming that the SFP Optika 6 performs similarly to the FFP. The 5-30 model also has improved glass over the 3-18 model. My 5-30 model is noticeably clearer than all of my Bushnell Elite Tactical LRHS and LRTS scopes, which would be an upgrade from the 4500's and Forge. The Sightron SIII is a nice scope optically but has a lot of other downsides. I found reticle thickness in my scope to be just right, but again that changes with a different reticle and a SFP design. The Optika also has a higher magnification range, which will be nice for gopher hunting.
