Never again. Had one that lost its purge, fogged internally. That can happen on a scope, not the end of the world. Except that warranty service wasn't available here. Followed a chain of contacts to one with the main company in Czech, said it would be $600+ Euro to ship and repair.
Told me I should just buy a new one and sent their newest catalog. No warranty, no thanks. I'll buy North American, or reputable, warranty included Euro brands. Nice scope, except for the fog thing.
North Silva said the R5/R6 line are made in China?
I thought the Optika line was the last budget Czech made scope?
I have a meopta R5 meohunter. Nice scope so far. No issues. Have only had it for a few hundred rounds of centerfire and maybe 10 months now. Optically I would say it punches well above its price range.
I have no idea what they’re thinking having the name China associated with their brand. When companies choose China we all know that it’s either a new owner ‘group’ looking to maximize on a company’s good/trusted name before the consumers catch on then the group will sell and on to their next victim’s name to profit from then trash and so on…I bought 2 Meopta R5 (Czech made) recently for a PCP FX Crown and also a rimfire. So far, so good but neither platform is stressing the optics. Reason I bought Meopta was a scope to scope side by side comparison involving a Meostar, vs Leopold vs Nightforce and some other piece of garbage that I can’t remember. The clarity and brightness of the Meostar at dusk blew everything else out if the water. But now with them going to China they have fallen from grace in my books and now Im a bit concerned about the R5 scopes and their warranties….
It should say on the scope or box where it was manufactured.I thought I read production returned the Czech but not sure if that’s true
Got my R5 3-15.. glass seems to hit above its weight class for sure

Hell, I don’t even buy noodles made in China anymore. And a little off topic, now we have Liberals totally in bed with the CCP and not even closing the curtains. I wonder how to say “elbows up” in Mandarin?
