Meprolight Unveil First Augmented Weapon Sight; the MEPRO FORESIGHT

...You can save up to 10 gun profiles with the app which retains zero and reticle choices for each gun.

So here's a dumb question - how easy is it to change the reticle and zero without the app? Just using the optic?

I'm thinking that even if you keep it on one rifle, you could figure out your dope for different ranges and have a preset for each range increment. If switching is only one or two button presses, that's a very attractive option.

Without the app you can adjust/store zero for one gun only.

There are 5 reticles in the sight itself - you only need to press the right arrow to switch between them.

Yeah changing reticles is merely cosmetic. Rather pointless, unless you can program each reticle to have a separate zero, which doesn't seem to be the case (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Maybe a suggestion you can pass back up to Mepro - have programmable drops. So that you hit a button to cycle through ranges that you enter in the app, and your zero changes with a single button push - that would allow for zeros at different ranges that you program beforehand.

So much potential in this optic, shame they haven't really considered some of the more practical applications. I mean c'mon, a compass is next to useless.

Changing the gun profile will load the pre-set reticle(s) and zero stored in that profile.

You can rename each profile to anything you want, for example you can make:

Profile 1: WK180 100yards
Profile 2: WK180 200yards

etc etc etc

Can you change the gun profile with a button push or do you need to use the app? Because dialing for a range with your phone isn't really practical.

Why not take the next step, add a laser rangefinder and have the sight adjust drop from that? Line up, push a button to lase and get an adjustment, push again to return to default.

Next step would be a rail-mount minicomputer that can bypass the phone...

As previously stated: in the app.

Yeah, If North_Sylva can suggest to Mepro that they change that in a firmware update - so that you can change profiles or zeros with a button push - they'd have another customer. I'd probably buy three or four units as I have a number of firearms that I could use a setup like this on. But if I have to use a phone to make a range adjustment, not interested... for now. Change that and I'm 100% in to buy.

Seriously North Sylva, please reach out to them and suggest it.

I don't think that's a serious option. It would require a change in physical form, and significant increase in price. A software change requires none of that and could be simply a firmware update even for existing owners.

I was thinking have the LRF and computer be separate devices that connect through Bluetooth. IIRC, I saw something about this last year and Mepro had mentioned eventually envisioning Bluetooth connection to Kestrel-type weather stations... Still, interesting to see the classic First-Person Shooter HUD taking first baby steps off the computer screen and into reality. :)
