We need more days of the week...
Maybe a Google spreadsheet? Or an iPhone app?

So here's a dumb question. What if you pull the trigger, get one shot off, but then you DO NOT WANT to fire that second shot. Is there a way to render the firearm safe? Because relaxing trigger pressure would be a shot.

I expect that you'd have to keep holding the trigger back, drop the mag, and cycle the action with your offhand. No?

If so, that's a pretty intricate process just to NOT fire a round. :/

From their website: A user can negate the round that would otherwise be fired during the release function by simply moving the selector back to Mode 2 and then safely releasing the trigger.

Catch all clause, but the standard trigger itself can discharge cartridges in rapid succession if pulled fast enough. Too bad we are stuck with garbage legislation that is the Firearms Act.

The key word may be 'operate' - there's no problem with the fact that the trigger of a semiautomatic firearm can discharge cartridges in rapid succession, so long as it is not operated by a device (electrical or mechanical), and we can reasonably assume fingers do not fall under that set of definitions.

There's probably another clause or interpretation somewhere in the firearms code restricting the binary trigger but it's not in the one listed:
1) Any electrical or mechanical device that is designed or adapted to operate the trigger mechanism of a semi-automatic firearm for the purpose of causing the firearm to discharge cartridges in rapid succession.}

My guess is that it would no longer be defined as 'semi-automatic' if one cycle of the trigger discharged two rounds, despite the fact that one 'pull' only discharges one round - but I am not a lawyer. I think the interpretation of 'pull' would tend to commonly include the entire cycle of the pull including the trigger reset, and on that grounds it would be defined as full auto (burst fire).

Whoa, wait, I thought Thursday was Bear Defense and Friday was shooting bullets into orbit?

Great schedule so far, but I don't see "what rifles are dishwasher safe" in the mix

Why is the fore-end censored? Is there some kind of gun #### that dare not speak its name? Something to do with vigorous pumping?

We need a mailing list that sends you a daily "What are you allowed to post about today without looking foolish?"
Maybe a @whatareyouallowedtopostabouttodaywithoutlookingfoolish

What, no bear defense? Am I that behind the times or is this not the correct forum?

I thought all the bear defense threads were in the pistols section.
Will my 9mm glock that I'm not allowed to carry with me anywhere other than at my gated range be a good choice for bear defense?

The Prohibited Devices definition is about a device (besides your finger) which operates the trigger mechanism. That doesn't apply in this case — it *is* the trigger mechanism.

The Criminal Code definition of an Automatic Firearm specifically says ‘during one pressure.’ The definition of pressure does not include what happens after the pressure; only the state _before_ the pressure is what defines it.

As far as I care, that would stand up in court. But we all know how this would go: declared full auto, not able to be imported. If you somehow got one, charge you, throw the full weight of the legal system against you and you plead out. If going to trial, they side with the RCMP Firearms Lab because they're the experts. Supreme Court declines to hear the case. Repeat.

A couple more videos, with some more testing?
