Mesa Tactical side saddle?

I was wondering if any of you nutz had anything to say about these. I've seen tons of side-saddles posted on cgn, but never those... looks neet to me; less bulky, closed loops, 4,6 or 8 rounds, and even a right side option.

Pricey, and from what I have been reading, difficult to use.

Their own site says you need two hands to remove the shell and that this is not acceptable. They are currently working on a new design and have a mod to make it easier to use. But for that money, I'll hold onto my coin until they have a good product.
 
I know Target Sports has some in stock however I have never played with them. They look pretty sweet though.

The other option is a cheek pad on the butt that holds shells.

Hi There,

I've been looking into these as well. Could you please provide me a reference to the spot on their site which says that you need 2 hands to remove the shells.

It's a huge downside if it's true. I'd really appreciate the help.

thanks for the info, i read the article (under news), 2 hand is one too many indeed. i guess i'll have to wait for the updated product or go with a different brand. any suggestions?
 
Hi folks.

That information about the two hands is very old. We hope to have a new website by the end of this month.

The redesign and fix occurred November 1st, 2005, so everything is fine now.

And we were recently given the green light by US Department of Commerce to export to Canada.

I tried these ones and the Tacstar, it's definitely very stiff and requires a bit of pulling to remove the shells. I went with the Tacstar instead.
 
My mesa tactical shell holders are tight. However, I like them that way as I can rest assured that the shells are staying put. (I insert my shells lead up/primer down.) The entire assembly is made from metal (NO PLASTIC). What hold the shells in is a rubbery neoprene strip. I forget what it is actually made of. I havent used it alot. But that will hopefully change sooooooon.

I was wondering if the 8 rounds side-saddle require any alteration to a Hogue 870 fore-end to work with (my fore-end slightly overlaps the receiver), i also have a single point sling/plate mounted, would that be a problem?
I'm basicly wondering if the side-saddle is the exact lenght of the receiver...

Yes, it goes all the way to the front of the receiver. Normally we would suggest cutting down the forend slightly (as we do with factory or SureFire forends), but I'm not sure that would be a good idea with an overmolded part like the Hogue. The rubber might start to come off the armature.

And, yes, the 8-shot would interfere with a Burnsed loop at the back.

So for your purposes, we'd recommend the 6-shot.

Do either of these companies have a website?
 
I have a 6 rounder. In this case you get what you pay for. It is the Mercedes Benz of sidesaddle carriers & well worth it. Mesa also has some other really well thought out stuff.

I would kill (figuratively of course;) ) for a carrier which integrates with a picatinny rail and mounts using the trigger group pins to save having to drill & tap my receiver.
