Messerschmitt BF-109G Vertical stabilizer cit off.

Thanks for that. I have on hand 5 gallons (for a vehicle restoration) of semi gloss that should matt out a bit with more reducer, and possibly time. The good news is that in the old days getting a colour match was the problem. Now with scanners that's the easy part.

No worries, hope it works out for you. Unfortunately the trend now seems to be laying a flat or semi clear over top to get the desired sheen, it’s getting harder and harder to find the old style of product. I have some old lead based 1shot that covers in one coat, I wish they hadn’t removed the lead. Or at the least, they could come up with a way to make it cover like the lead based did.

I used to be able to get an industrial matt paint from Sherwin Williams for my toys and it perfectly re-created the WW2 chalky matt. Yes it suffered from fingerprints (as did the original) but has lasted over 20 years. Sunlight would have tuned it to pink but I'm not leaving anything outside to suffer that.

When I take a mat painted vehicle to a car show full of shiny cars and dazzling chrome I joke that while everyone else there is worried about keeping their shiny painted car shiny I fret about keeping my dull painted car dull...............said as a joke but actually true. Some buff shining from oily hands is to be expected and gives the car a more period correct look, that said I did make a entire family stand away from a vehicle with their drippy ice cream cones.
