Was out in some very high wind conditions this morning but I knew that the ducks would be deep back in the reeds, not on the water. So I shot my limit this morning, nice big mallards. Anyway, as I was leaving around 10:30 am, there was truck from Minnesota just idling at the end of the section road to let me get past. I rolled down the window to chat and see how they were doing. I was kind of surprised that they weren't out hunting. Although it was 9 degrees C and very windy, I was very comfy. They said that the guides didn't want to row across those high waves in the bay so they didn't hunt this morning. I was kind of surprised that their guides didn't know to move the location to follow the birds. Anyway, I had a great shoot despite these 70 km/hr gusting winds. When the birds were coming into the decoys, it took forever for them to get into range.
