I have no experience with 30 round metal AR15 mags. I have some ASC LAR mags, but would like to pick up a few 5/30 metal mags for my mossberg patrol before they become extinct.

Are they mostly the same just rebranded, or is there a recommended brand/model to look for?

Thanks.

Plastic mags are better if they have metal reinforced feed lips. But they can still be damaged from bottom strike impact if you have full length.

Metal mags will be more reliable over time. Stanag mags will.be around for a while yet. Many manual repeating firearms use them.

I tend to disagree on metal STANG mags are superior. Few of my metal mag have feed lips that are out of spec creating jam from time to time. However that is not really a problem with polymer magazines.

Metal mags can bend which lead to jams. Plastic mags just break, so less chance of a 'good' looking mag causing jams.

If you want metal OP, checkout OKAY brand.

My Teflon coated aluminum mags have never failed me. The coating makes them super slick for no problem drop-free operation when changing mags. Having said that, my polymer mags have also been great. For competitions, now a thing of the past probably, I always used the aluminum mags.

So when I first saw Squatch's post, I found 3 Okay mags at HiCal, but they were sold by the time I got my order together.

Then I clicked on TNA link from C2A post, and they sold out by the time I got my order in.

Watching a few YT vids, D&H seem to be the second best, so I completed a purchase for 4 from CRAFM. I am a full on mag-addict, so I am going to grab some Okay mags if I find them in stock anywhere as well.

Thanks all.

D&H have been the sole supplier for the Cdn military for 25yrs. Excellent mags and the Teflon coating is far superior to USGI dry film coatings.

Okay have been mentioned numerous times already but they are excellent mags.

I regret not picking up a couple of 10 packs of the D&H when they were $180 for 10 from several vendors. I didn't realise they were the supplier to the military up here.

Yes, and... gasp, we’ve been running them without anti tilt followers to this day. Not even the green “anti tilt” that apparently were so terrible that Magpul followers needed to be invented.

D&H are some of the best bang for your buck. Easier to find up here than Okay I believe.

I have several 5rd metal mags, worked great, never had any issues with them.
