I am in the initial process of cleaning up my RC 98k and I found a good starting guide for the process. One part mentions to take off the metal pieces (bayonet lug, stock recoil lug, and bolt take down disc) from the stock (early laminated type with red glue). I have never done this before nor have the proper tools.

Has anyone else done this ? What tools would I need ? How would I go about taking the pieces off without damaging them or the stock ?

Thank you for the help.

I agree, personally I have found it is never worth it. Clean what you can with the parts on, and generally just leave it alone. JMHO:cheers:
With the exception of the bayo lug, you probably won't be able to get the rest off without damaging either the part or the stock.

I figured it would be going down a bad road, thanks for clearing it up guys.

My biggest concern has been to preserve the waffenamts to the best of my ability as they appear to only be stamped on in ink and not directly into the wood. The guide mentions ways to save them but I'm still not confident.
