Curious who in Canada might do titanium nitride "faux gold" plating? I am looking to go full crazy on a rifle barrel/action and all exposed furniture. Barreled action is about 38"
Cheers!
Talk to any nearby Tool and Cutter Grinding shops to see who they use. As I understand the process, they put the parts in a vac chamber, pull it down as low as they can, and run a high amp current through the material to be deposited, and the parts that are in contact with their holders are shielded from the spray.
Guys have built their own rigs for sputtering (that's the name of the process) silver on to home ground telescope mirrors.
Finding an outfit that will do that on gun stuff is like to be a PITA. Or maybe not, but I'd expect it to be.
If you don't mind spending, Caswell Plating Supply will sell you a brush plating kit that you can DIY the gun in real gold. They have a Canadian outlet.
They also sell kits for electroless nickel, as used on a lot of older guns.
Even finding a chrome shop is a hard search. One that will touch guns, even harder. Chrome shop work is dirty and lots of crappy chemistry is involved, so you end up with a lot of guys working in them that are not allowed to touch a gun anyways...
