I'm well aware of the CSA magwell adapter and that they work well with the XCR pistol mags, but I'd like to have a metal magwell adapter instead of a plastic one. I looked at the B&T one on wolverines site and found a video from them on youtube and it appears that the bolt hold open does not function with that adapter. So my question is, does anyone know of a metal magwell adapter that allows the bolt hold open to function on an empty XCR mag?

If there is no other option I'll probably buy the CSA adapter to hold me over until someone creates one from metal.

If you're not using VZ58 mags good luck with the bolt hold open feature. The VZ58 mags activate the bolt hold open feature.

No other options that I know of. I have the CSA on my compact .223. I like it. The bolt hold open works with Magpul followers and my AA beowulf mags
As I understand it the B&T requires permanent modifications. I believe you can no longer use original mags afterwards. I might do that to a .223 but wouldn't to a x39. But that's just me. I like the looks, reliability and construction of the original x39 mags.

the plastic csa one holds the bolt open with xcr mags on the csa x39. But somehow I broke my firing pin so ive fired less than 200 rounds with the mod. The hold open was 95% positive. the xcr mags I have need some smoothing on the lips to prevent the bolt from slamming the projectiles into the front of the magazine which seems to occur routinely if youre not positioning the rounds in carefully into the magzine.

ymmv.

cheers.

My personal experience with the plastic gen II magwell and beo mags is 50/50, sometimes it holds the bolt open sometimes it doesn't, I've also noticed that when you stuff 14 rounds in it the mag expands side - side

The CSA mag adaptor comes withe a replacement bolt lock back button which has a tab on it that contacts the mag follower on the last round in order to lock it back. I'm assuming the b&t doesn't. Also assuming the b&t holds the mag in the same position as the CSA adaptor in order to feed properly. Therefore if you use the modified CSA bolt lock back button the last round hold open should work on the b&t. This would mean you would have to buy both. Somethig I would try if I thought the metal one would be better but I like the CSA adaptor as well as where the mag release is placed.
Wolverine has the B&T adaptors and they state you can return back to regular vz mags after the modification is done. If its the same modification that is required on some vzs then it is very little. I have a previous post showing exactly what needs to be done on some rifles in order to install the CSA adaptor.

Its funny.

With 5 round limit on factory CZ magazines the bolt hold open seems important.
With the B&T installed and 10 round XCR magazines (11 with one up the pipe) - it doesn't seem like as big a deal.

Just my humble opinion.

I've been thinking about this again lately. I still use the 5/30 round mags that came with my Cz 858 originally. I know Wolverine has the B&T adapters in stock at about $170. Anyone know who has the CSA ones in stock?

Edit: found on sfrc

Edit#2. Not in stock

And that CSA one is only for 223? I may have to look at the B&T one then.
