Working on getting my Great Uncle's 1892 Lee Metford dressed up a bit and would like to put a top handguard on it.

1. Can anyone offer a source where I could find one of these?

2. Are the Metford top guards the same as a Long Lee?

Thanks guys!:)

They come up for sale on ebay, I have seen sets of 2 for sale. It's worth watching to see if and whe they come up. They are coming from New Zealand. You could also try Sarco in the US.

Seems many came from NZ, IIRC mine has that stamp on the butt stock. It is a mystery how it got in the family four generations ago due to my Great Uncle getting Alzhiemers, wish I could know.

Thanks guys!

A Lee Metford IS a Long Lee. Same as a Lee-Enfield except it has Metford rifling and no safety. I know where there is the Hulk of a L-E that still has the handguard on it. Now, whether I can GET it or not...... Another thought, the handguard looks similar to the lower one on an SMLE. I wonder if one could be modified to fit. Take one that has the two ears already broken off, then round off the end. I'm not sure if the spring clips will go over the heavier barrel, though.

That goes to show how much knowledge I have on Enfields.
Saw that in the link Sunray posted but why try to avoid the plain and simple fact I am acluistic.:p And yeah, I am sure I spelt that wrong too. :D

Thanks for the clarifacation!
Finally got the proper breech bolt for the old girl and she looks pretty good too. Just the guard and a mag with a staple in it and I'm off to the races.
If you do get a chance at the other Enfield Bushman I'd love the guard if you don't need it.

Here are some pics of her for entertainment sake.
