The only thing that really gets you is a proceedural.....(aside from a safety call of course)..

That is similar but not the same as the "failure to do right" type of thing that concerns me....

But hey at least *DPA targets have heads!!
 
IPSC IS better than IDPA.
IDPA is better than IPSC.
The stupid target is the topic here. I do not care which target gets placed (I like steel the best myself) as long as the people who organize these events play nice and I get to help, shoot both sports and enjoy the day with friends. Who really cares? I see some do but I would not loose sleep over it.
Now IDPA can have the ones with the heads and IPSC gets the classic. Now we will never mix the two up. They both give you the opportunity to fire your guns one way or another. To the people who only want to shoot the one discipline, You do not have enough guns and need to buy more so that you can shoot both and have even more fun. Shoot both and you will not miss a thing.

Not that I want to whack the hornets nest, but I actually prefer the Classic target. The smaller A zone makes it a more difficult target, which places a higher premium on accuracy and makes you a better shooter in my book.

Same as in IDPA only a procedural will get you a 3 second penalty unless there is a blatant attempt at being "unsportsmanlike".
For instance in IDPA "round dumping" to gain an advantage (ie; stage calls for reload with retention and you dump the last 4 rounds in your mag into the berm to achieve slidelock) is not allowed and if seen by the S/O you will be penalized.

Another one is in the IDPA rule book there are rules laying out the placement of your holster and mag pouch ....the S/O will check your gear with a cursory once over at the start of the stage and if your gear is out of place you will be asked to correct it........now if this happens on a continual basis on every stage the S/O's can (and have) issue a FTDR after the fact.........As far as I know FTDR's are seldom used and I have only ever heard of one being issued (the one above)


What I was refering to in my post about scores being dependant on others in your division is that I understood that your score is based on a percentage of the best shooter in the division not actually on how you scored ?????I think I wrote that right.......lol

As far as penalties go I have heard of many more people getting DQ'd from IPSC than I have heard of them getting FTDR in IDPA

Not really.............every score is actualy score and time.

The "winner" then gets scored as 100% and everyones score is then compared to that 100%.

Not really.........it is just easier to understand %s.

I mean if I score 237 match points and you 287 how much did you beat me by?

Not to mention it makes the classiification system easier a % is a % is a %
 
Man I've been shooting IDPA so long I was going to say you beat me by 50 points ......lol (lower score is better in IDPA)

The only thing I can see is that when you have only a few shooters in a division it really screws things up in your scoring system

Well We like HIGH scores..........maybe that I why I do so bad at golf??

Score divided by time...

But once put into a percentage........the content has not changed. It is the same score elements.

I do not see how having fewer shooters makes things harder?

IPSC started in the US, not sure how it could happen but maybe control of the sport ought to move back to the US. I suspect their are more shooters shooting USPSA then there are IPSC shooters world wide. This move away from the Metric target sees to me to be based solely on political correctness gone stupid and the Euros seem to be masters of correctness. I wonder what would happen if USPSA started to call their Championship the World Championship and let the Europeans swim for themselves.

If nothing else it would make it a lot less expensive for Canadian shooters to travel.

I think that the system is set up to prevent that...........its all politics.
 
What do you think IPSC would do IF the USPSA decided to call their Nationals the World Shoot and shooters up here as well as those from Central and South America chose to support such a tournament.
