Do you find there are mfg that support canadian customers better than others?

I've recently had a hell of a time decideing on a pistol and wondered if people with more experience in it might have info on good or bad stories with something coming up with their pistol and how the company dealt with it.

The canadian border makes a pretty big hurdle, are some better than others when it comes to after purchase support? The kimber seem a tad harder to find in canada, and I wonder if that makes it harder to get warranty work?

I'm currently looking at a sig p226 tactical or a kimber tactical custom II. Both are in the 1500$ range, but after a .22 slide and extra mags I'd be over 2g's. enough that I'm really trying to do my research, which includes what happens after purchase. Both have options for .22 slides to help reduce ammo costs during training, and while the .45 might hurt the wallet, it sure is pretty on the eyes. The sig fits my grip a bit better but I think I like the trigger on the 1911 a bit better. I'd like to be able to try ipsc or idpa, and I think they both qualify, I like that the sig comes with 4 mags, but I think I need different grips to qualify for ipsc.

It sure is hard when you only have enough for the one, I wish I could just get them both! Either way I think it'll be a win, both seem like great pistols, just trying to see if I can find something to tip the scales

Dont even get me started on the fact that my local shop said they might be getting some nighthawk's (grp) coming in. its a dangerous slippery slope.

I think the sig is the way to go. But it all comes down to if you want a 1911 or not. My sig .22 conversion for my 226 was not that good. It took a lot of ammo to break in. 1911 .22 conversion I have never had the convinence to shoot.

If you worry about after sale support, you should stick with STI as a 1911 purchase, you won't have problem to find parts or warranty here in Canada, anyhow all single stack1911 to be fine because parts easy to obtain.
