Having used MG's for the last 3 years use a really thin water like oil.. Anything like CLP or grease will just attract carbon and gum up and slow the action and make the gun not work that well.

a REAL MG that fires 100s (1000s?) of rounds in a couple hours is one thing.

A private owned semi that will only shoot a couple hundred in an afternoon will benefit from grease much more. Especially with an action like a 1919 that has HUGE bearing surfaces. Grease will go farther to preventing wear.

Oil is better in fullauto units because it can be poured into the action without dismantling (kinda important in a gunfight....I doubt Ardent gets into many gunfights)

Oil also becomes even thinner with heat and virtually runs outa the gun

AND....Oil will get onto the cartridges before firing...bad bad bad....Oiled rounds cause excessive presure on the bolt face (but you knew that, Im sure:p )

Like Klunk says use a good gun grease I am not a great fan of those TNW guns after handling and being around for 3 different guns mostly built from very worn parts all 3 had some serious problems to overcome before they worked properly .one gun got off one shot before the accelerator sheared right off the other 2 guns needed some tlc but they did run in the end . the mg 34 I handled also had some teething proplems 1 being the most horendous trigger I've ever felt the the ejection block came loose and the gun constantly jammed but again the problems were worked out but you would think for the money the ask for these things the guns would be of better qualitiy .just my 2 cents

My accelerator sheared off after less than one belt. Hopefully the replacement will come soon and won't just break...

way back in the day we used to carry 15 cents canadian to adjust the headspace- closes and fires on the dime, won't on the nickel- don't know if that still applies- those were real silver coins

I'll lithium grease it, as your explanation makes sense to me. :)

As for gun fights, only one so far, no one hit, and can't say I wish to try it again anytime soon but my chosen hobby/profession makes that questionable... (I travel to 'interesting' locations as a gem buyer and conservationist [going back to Colombia again this spring, the aforementioned 'gunfight' took place in Bolivia summer 2005 and we were fired upon for no other reason than being gringos and conspicuoisly half a foot taller than anything else around, it was during a socialist revolution and they were not fond of the capitalistas] we were on the receiving end of 40mm shells, if that counts as a gunfight, and I personally did not exchange any rounds but was unfortunately present and fired upon)

Other than that, had a 'pot shot' or two that it's really hard to tell where they hell it came from and where it was intended to go... :confused: Hardly a gunfight... :redface:

Yeah, I'm a greenhorn compared to many of you guys... :redface: :redface: :redface: Happily though I suppose :D

Good evening fellas;
Feel free to call Eric, our gunsmith, he has many, many rounds of experience on the TNW guns.... he will have you up and running in no time
