MG34 dummy receiver ideas

Hello CGN,

Here's my deal; I have every part except for the receiver for an MG34. Now please excuse my ignorance but when I say "receiver" I mean how you would describe an ar-15 / C7 upper and lower receiver (including the pistol grip, bolt, etc.) Perhaps I should say "middle part of the gun".

I'm not looking to shoot, and I understand it would become a prohibited firearm if complete and not deactivated. I'm looking for options on what I can use / build to make the machine gun look complete.

Semi-auto, blank firing, deactivated? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

none, it would be a replica, and therefore illegal, you can buy a new semi auto mg 34, own a real one that is deactivated, but you cant make a pretend gun because it would kill puppies i guess
 
Is a dummy receiver (with no other parts attached) considered a "replica" or is it only considered a "replica" if it has all the other parts attached so that it looks like a complete firearm?
 
Well that's good to know, thanks. I always figured worse case scenario I'd just fashion something out of a 2X4 and paint it black. I won't be doing that now!

To be honest I just want to display it. I'd say the parts are in "relic" to slightly better than relic condition so perhaps I'd be better off looking for a deactivated receiver part only? Then again, maybe after a thorough cleaning I might be able to use a semi-auto version. I appreciate your feedback, thanks gents.
 
Go ahead and make your 2x4 receiver. If that would be considered a replica, hundreds of kid who make toy guns out of wood should also be charged (this former kid included).
 
TNW use to sell just there semi auto receiver and a few parts to convert to closed bolt semi auto, last time I priced it they wanted about 1800 and it still would require blueing, then you would have the export costs.

no idea, would likely require a court case to find out, my guess is if it closely resembles the registered part of a firearm, it would be a replica firearm (if an ar lower is a restricted firearm, then a replica lower is a replica firearm i bet)
 
You just missed one sawn in half on eBay. Not legal in the States which specifies four torch cuts through the receiver to qualify as demilled, but probably passable here. Weld it back together and as long as you don't mill out the slag inside you could probably pass it off as a dewat receiver. They come up on eBay occasionally, generally out of Europe and will ship wherever. Not having to deal with ITAR = priceless.
 
As i was explained, and I asked the powers that be, its the receiver that has to be real, in other words a make and serial number on it. Anything bolted to it should be ok either real or made up.
I was lucky and got complete deacts for the halftrack in the end, but i did look into seeing what I could do if i couldnt find one
