MG34 Feed tray is buggered

Hello, I have run into a problem with my feed tray, I have tried to solve that problem and I am pretty sure I have a bigger problem now. So to start things off I tried to attach a drum onto it. The feed tray was waay to small ( bent inwards somehow) I used pliers to bend them out the tiniest amount and it still would not fit. Blah blah blah etc etc etc now the feed tray wing things are all bent out of shape, my drum has some corners ground down and nothings fits into anything. Does anyone know how to fix this problem I have gotten myself into or does anyone have a spare feed tray or know where to get one online? The feed tray still fits in the mg34 and belts can still run on it fine, its just that the stupid wings are all buggered. Please help...please

Replacement feed tray (both upper and lower) are for sale on the TNW website. Don't know about shipping to Canada.

Could probably talk to North Sylva as they are the importers of TNW guns for Canada.
 
Try Marstar: products-firearms-firearms part and accessories-specific firearms parts and accessories-full auto-mg34-parts. Didn't see a feed tray there but give them a call, maybe they can help.
 
It was bent to small when I first got it, then it was bent to large, now it just broken off when I tried to fit the drum on it. Here are the pictures of the mess I have made. One of the ears is broken off and the other is about to go.

We all learn from our mistakes. The take away is make the adjustment to the drum and make IT fit the gun, not the gun to the drum. Was the drum a wartime German drum or post war Yugo?

TNW won't ship to Canada without an end user certificate.

I also tried putting a drum on my mg34, it would not fit, so I stopped. Drum wasn't worth that much to me. Lol.

If your drum doesn't slip on the next one, then go drum less.

Also try eBay.
 
That tray will still accept a belt but never a drum again. Get a fine flap wheel on a angle head grinder and smooth out the rough ends where you broke off the extensions, Buy a replacement tray and be the wiser for the experience.
 
I would bring it to the local welder and have it welded back on and have the other side fixed also. Not a big job for a good welder.

For what it would cost to do that, cleaning up the welds and refinishing I would just buy a replacement. OP, go to Ebay, search MG34, find a European parts seller (there is a MG34 stock for sale there as we speak BTW) and message them regarding what you seek for a tray. I am fairly sure you can source this by that route and stick handle around ITARs by not buying out of the US.

Indeed. There are a considerable number of parts to be had in jurisdictions not quite so paranoid as the U.S. and ironically eBay is a good start.

Still trying to find a trommelhalter, PT34, and Lafette...
 
so you fellas would rather spend around $100. plus shipping to get another used feed tray , than spend $ 30.- 50. to get it repaired locally. sweet,,
 
If you get a new one, then you can always repair the original and have a spare.

Spare parts are a good idea on beltfeds, lots of little parts and lots of lead goes through them.

I would............... there are welders and then their are welders that actually know what they are doing to TIG that back together. The tray is still usable for feeding a belt so the OP is not totally knackered and buying a replacement gives the OP the option. If one has dropped X number thousand to buy and shoot a SA MG34 another hundred bucks outlay is just the cost of owning one and keeping it fit.
 
Good news everyone, I brought it into my auto shop class and welded them back on! I am in the process of filing down the welds then I will find a way to make it black again. Can I use gun blue on welds?
