I like that. Much rather have a few barrels, magwell's and BCG's than multiple rifles. Nice that it uses all readily available parts as well, I have 3 calibers for my ACR but 2 of them require all custom built parts because Bushmaster has failed to supply the conversion kits they have been promising for 3 years.
I'd like to see a range test on this one and also see the price by the time they make it into Canada.

That's not bad for a BCG, barrel, and magwell. Probably comes with one mag as well I hope.
I would have to wholeheartedly disagree. I mean, if it floats your boat, by all means go fo it, but my rationale is as follows:
Say you want the MGI Hydra in 2 calibres. That means one complete rifle in one calibre, and a separate barrel, bolt, carrier, buffer, spring, and mag well for the other.
In comparison to just having 2 complete rifles, you are only "saving" on the lower (minus the magwell, of course), trigger group and stock/buffer tube.
For that,however, you will have to pay in the from of an unproven barrel attachment system, and unknown quantity in the modular magazine well.
Not to mention that you will be rezeroing very time you switch barrels, and possibly rezeroing should the barrel work itself loose.
It would be easier to keep track of 2 complete rifles than 1 complete rifle and a mish mash of loose parts that themselves almost form another rifle.
Just my 2 cents.
I kind of really like that lower. I'm a sucker for modular. I'd probably never use it for 223, but I could see using it to swap between x39 and 9mm configs with 2 uppers.
The "got ya" is because we are limited to 5 round mags, we gain nothing from using AK mags, other then cool factor.
Can't remember ever seeing 10 round AK Pistol mags for sale anywhere, but 10 round x39 AR mags are easy enough to get.
You would actually be at a disadvantage with an AK mag lower for that reason.
