MI AR180 forearm install problem

When the forearm is in place the guide rods can't go forward enough to close the gun.

Any one else run into this problem?

Pretty sure there is info on this in armedsask's sticky thread of frequently asked questions for the ar180 top of the black and green rifles page? I be taking a guess but cutting off 1/4" sounds familiar?

Usually means the front is not engaged properly, or the HG is not pushed down all the way.

I picked it up from a fellow member and it didn't come with instructions.

Instruction #8

Modify operating rod assembly by removing 5/16" from the end of the op rod.

(Note: This should not affect the reinstallation of factory handguards)

Easiest way to do it is with a grinder or a dremel. If not you have to use a hacksaw.

Since I have to cut the guide rod I might as well cut off the the stock adapter and get a collapsable one for it, I've been going back and forth on that one.

I might hold off on that. With the ACE adapter you do but, I believe with the Stormwerkz adapter you don't have to cut it off.

Yep, my mistake It's the ACE that you now do not have to cut flush (leave .450") Sadly, ACE no longer ships to Canada. Although, I do prefer Josh's stuff anyway.

You gain nothing by leaving any of the receiver stock extension. Who has ever added a better stock and then gone back to the old one?

Yes, go for the Stormwerkz adapters. You can even keep the factory stock on it, but add a folding mechanism, which is what I have on mine for now.
