I am considering a little red dot to mount onto my 870 picatinny rail but the Trijicon is just so damn expensive. Can anyone recommend a decent red dot that won't break the bank? I've seen a decent amount at the local gun shops like Bushnell etc for around $200 but does anyone have any field experince, especially with the recoil of slugs and buckshot out of a shotgun?

Thanks!

Burris fast fire.

It was originally designed for use on shot guns. So it will take the recoil. It also has an on/off switch. A must in any RDS.

They made/make 3 different models.

Fast fire = rear stock mounting options for Remington and mossberg shot guns.

Fast fire 2 = with a standard pic rail mounting base.

Fast fire 3 = they improved the FF2, I don't know exactly how, it looks the same.....

You should be able to pick one up for $289(ish).

Absolutely nothing wrong with the Bushnell TRS but I also second the Burris Fast Fire. I run them on quite a few rifles and shotguns simple because of the size, weight and durability they offer.

I'd go with the Bushnell TRS-25 myself on a picatinny rail. I got one on my AR and is a pretty good little red dot. Paid $121+Taxes.

My KSG has an EoTech XPS2 but if you want even smaller the Burris is nice and Leupold makes one as well. There is also the Aimpoint T-1 which is a really tough little red dot sight.

If you want a micro RDS like you stated, also look at the Leupold Delta Point. Very rugged and reliable sight. The Fast fire is a good option as well for something of that size. Having said that, I had a TRS-25 on my 870 for a while, and it worked very well. For the money you can't really beat it, just a little bulkier than what you might be looking for.
