Yes it does, doesn’t it?
I typically bring popcorn to these types of threads, my own included. Sometimes a good Single Malt if the thread has really gone off the deep end..

Since you are a rem 700 guy I really have to suggest looking at some of the higher end bergaras in person if possible.

I could easily be a Kimber, Sako, Weatherby, Fierce or whatever guy. I’m not overly brand loyal by any stretch.

I could go that route and or re-barrel but I’m just wanting move up to the next “level” or “grade” at this time.

I went through several different makes of rifles including savage, browning, tikka, Remington, christensen, and had a semi custom built off a rem 700 (really like that one and kept). I wanted to step it up after those and looked at many different “mid” grade factory built rifles, decided to go full custom and I’m sure glad I did. Had KS Arms spin one of their barrels on their LAR 3 lug action and I bolted on the rest. I wanted one and done and not keep going through a bunch of rifles searching for the one to keep.

A lot of the newer upscale rifles compare directly with a tricked out model 700. Look at the Nosler 21. Shilen barrel, trigger tech, McMillan. Add some paint. Hardly worth the big price tag over a restocked stainless model 700

Call Harley at Insite Arms and discuss what you want and a budget. It will shoot extremely accurate like all his builds. Your quest will be over. Good luck whatever path you pick.

If you are a Remington 700 kind of guy, a Barrett Fieldcraft would be a good choice for you. I had one one time and it was a well made rifle.
I think your first decision is the weight of the rifle you want. Extremely light is nice to carry but harder to shoot well.
Next is whether you prefer a push feed action or a controlled round feed action. If that matters to you, then your rifle choice will be narrowed down.

Buy yourself something different, Ruger no1 for exemple, or an older Mauser 98 that was built special for someone and that some one decided to move on!!
