Mid-length handguard? Dissipator?

As best as I can recall in my intoxicated state, The dissipator handgaurds are full lenght but have the put piston connectected to the barrel underneath the handgaurd about half-way down the barrel
 
Disapator is a 20" that's been chopped to 16" with a full rifle length hand guard (12" I think). Midlength is 9" and carbine is 7".
 
Dissipator is a standard 16" bbll with carbine gas assembly (Not chopped down). The full length handguards are held on with a standard A2 front sight that isnt functional as a gas block.

You cannot mount a bayonet on a dissipator.

The Midlength are also odd as a standard 16" bbl configured so that the barrell allows for the mounting of a standard bayonet.

The handguards on the midlenth are not milspec size. they have a custom gas tube length. This configuration allows for a US LEGAL 16" BBL

BOTH are 16" bbl assemblies. I assume that they are both as accurate as any 16" bbl, but I gather that the parts are far more available for the dissipator rather than the midlength.

I think the rifle length FF rail with the 16" barrel is the bees knees. Puts the front sight further out, and you're protected from more of the barrel (or the barrel is protected from you ;), it also get's the bipod further out.

Hoddie did a nice one.
 
I agree.. the "Dizzy" is a good overall option and is a child of necessity in the US where 16" is the legal length for a rifle, a real M4 (14.5" bbl) is an SBR or "short barreled rifle" requiring ATF permits and tax stamps etc. etc.

Noone really likes the spindly 16" barrell on a 16" carbine do they? I much prefer my 14.5 profile barrel ;)

Since we're talking Dissipators this one with a RAS is sweet....
