Took my first reloads today. .308, 168gr bthp, CCI BR2, Win 748, 38 to 42 gr spread over 10 rounds. It was cold today, -10 with 20km wind. When shooting the lower grain loads, had a couple wierd pops, bullet hit couple inches low, checked the barrel and it had unburnt powder down the whole barrel! The hotter loads didnt seem to do that. Am I missing something or doing something wrong? Any input would be awesome, thanks!

I don't use that powder but it looks like you might be a little on the light side. Reload data center says max load of 46.5gr for a 180gr bullet and 48.5gr for a 150gr bullet. You should be safe up to around 47gr (work up carefully). I would get a chronograph and see what kind of velocity you are getting. Should be 2600 + fps.
Where are you getting your data from? If I was at home I would check my books for you and give you some more published data numbers.

lighter charge loads will not burn 100% because the brass doesn't form to the chamber completely. if you notice carbon/soot build up on the outside of the brass, it's for that reason.
nothing to worry about though.

CCI BR2 is one of the softest primers you can buy, to weak for that particular powder.
Win 748 is a heavy coated ball powder and requires either Win LR primer (hot one) or magnum primer of any other brand.
Also do not start loading any slow burning powder under minimum as per reloading manual, in this case not less than 41gr or so.
