Never thought I would see the day, one of my work horse AR's rusted and action jammed shut
it was put away in the safe for a few months in a medium dirty condition (which has never been a problem). Long story short, my house is getting a face lift therefore my air exchanger is off and humidity is slightly higher. Today I pulled my guns for an inspection, noticed some rust deposit on the barrel near the FH shim, this area gets lots of crap because of blow back from the Krinkov, anyway, I went to open the action to Safe the gun, but can't........!!!!! it's jammed shut.
I separated the upper and lower, and used some leverage to pull the carrier and bolt out, it finally did. The carrier and bolt show some surface rust discoloration (which comes off with a cloth) and the firing pin has some minor pitting
The front of the barrel @ the FH where the rusting was has some surface pitting
Cleaned it all up, barrel pitting looks very much surface cosmetic and I will likely change the firing pin. Other guns look fine however!
I guess spring cleaning is way overdue
