Mil-dot, Ballistic Plex, Iron sights? what do you prefer and why?

I've never had a mil dot, and for a guy who knows how to calculate holdover it should work the same, but I do have a ballistic plex, and it works pretty well. If you can judge the distance correctly, its going to place the point of impact close enough for hunting purposes. So what would you call that, then, a hunters simplified version of mildot?

I've only ever used iron sights, and I'm starting to research all the stuff about scopes. Leaning toward a Bushnell 4200 6-24x50 with mildot for long range target shooting.
Though God knows how I'll pay for one of those ;) And then there's the rings, and a base...

Yeah im looking for a burris at the moment and i have no idea what reticle to chose. My usues for it would be hunting and some mid range target shooting out to 500M

The Burris has marking for 500 yards for non-magnum and up to 600 for magnum cartridges, depending on how you sight it in. If its competitive target shooting, it might be a necessity to have marked, adjustable windage and elevation knobs. Otherwise, the Burris might do. What caliber do you plan to put this on?

I presonally like "fancy" reticles :slap:

Mil-dot, half-mil hash marks (IOR, Falcom MP20), Leupold tactical, ranging reticles

also remember that they are useful if for a reason your rangfinder finds water or batteries die :)
