Am looking at a new scope for my .280 Mountain Rifle, and am considering a mil-dot. I like the ability to range find with it! Will either be a Mueller, or Falcon. Does anyone have any experience with a mil-dot in a hunting situation? Thanks!
I think mil-dots are useful for hunting out in the flats or hills. For a walk about gun in the bush, not much use. But for ranges farther than 200yds, wind hold over and trajectory compensation are handy.
I was shooting gophers at 150-200yds with a 25km cross wind, using mil-dots on my crappy tasco scope on my .17hmr. I'm not going to say I hit them all but it sure helps.
I have a burris on order with ballisitplex reticle, just for trajectory compensation.
