They are fabulous to work with. Did really well in a field competition back in 2001. I might have been off (ranging) by about 5 to 10 meters back up to 800 meters away. Damn, I was good with the Mildot Master.

Does not take long to become proficient with it. You just gotta to out to your neighbourhood with a tape measure (Home Depot works too) and record the dimensions of commonly found items in your expected AO (area of operations). At least if you are recording said measurements at CDN Tire or Home Depot, you won't look to suspicious. yuk yuk yuk

I paid around $ 50 plus shipping from Wolverine back in 2000.

If you are using your scope for rangeing the Mil-dot master is an awsome tool for a quick read, as Hungry said you need to know the size of your target to use it correctly, a must have in every ones kit.

Now wether you use Mil-dot master or Laser range finder the other toy you should have is a Scope dope from One shot Tactical to toss on your scope caps, The combination of these two tools makes for an accurate and quick rangeing and come-up solution calculator.

Is the Mil-dot Master specifically designed for Mil-Dot scopes, or can you use it for other mil-scale reticles? I really don't find ranging very difficult with a TMR, as long as you know the height of the object you're measuring (WAY easier if you go by cm/m too).

You can use a mildot master with any type of mil-scaled reticle... As long as you know the size of the target and can measure it through your scope in mils, you're fine... You can actually try out the functionality if you go to http://www.mildot.com/ and click "Try It!" in the left-hand navigation menu...

BTW, Wolverine sells it for CAD$52+shipping... With the exchange rate more like 1:1 these days, it's just better to get it directly from http://www.mildot.com/ for USD$35 shipped to Canada (click "Buy It" in the navigation menu and they specify an option for Canada).

Two words...

Horus Vision.

Get yourself a good PDA and your off. Helps to have a good Kestrel as well.

Mildot Master is a great backup and lots of fun to challenge yourself to see how good you get at ranging.

Then it's fun time, shoot and range and dip and yap and make the gongs fly off the backstop!!!!

I've got the Mildot Master and I love it... Cheap way to get a quick firing solution. Definitely recommend 100%.

The best part is finding out how many mils to aim at a specific range, instead of screwing with clicks.

Horus Vision is too bloody expensive for most people... But I love the 5.11 watch with Sureshot from Horus. I barely use it but it's a neat gadget...
