Good morning. I bought 500 pcs. of mil. once fired .223 brass the other day. Great price!! ALOT of work!
They were guaranteed once fired and they were all in nice shape. I decapped and sized them, trimmed them on my lathe type trimmer, reamed the primer pockets, deburred the flash hole, and deburred the mouth. Boy, do I wish I had one of those motorized prep centers!

Woke up this morning and thought someone had run over my hands with a truck. Thankfully, alot of this process only needs to be done once, and now I have 500 pieces that I can probably reload for a long time. The large number and the small size of the cases is detrimental to my generally good mood!

So, is it worth it? If they turn out to be really good, then yes, very worth it. Only time will tell. One thing for sure... if I ever do this again, I'll be buying one of those prep machines before I touch them!
My only hope is that I can pull the trigger today without whimpering like a puppy... C.

When it comes to .223 and volume processing (+1000 cases in a run) there is no way you would get me to do it without the RT1200 and super swage... The case prep centers are handy that's for sure but to trim and FL size in one go saves a ton of time...

I did a few lots of 250-500 cases on my single stage using a Lee lock stud trimmer in my drill and a Lyman pocket reamer... Hard on the hard on the fingers and the nerves after the first 5-6hrs :D

Only you can put a price on your time/effort.

I tend to value mine a little bit. Not a lot, but a bit.

Didn't buy 1,000 brand-spanking new Lapua brass for $980.00. I bought 1,000 RWS 1F brass for $100; just so I could do away with all of the primer pocket bs of the ex-mil brass. Plus I get more powder capacity on non-mil. brass. Plus my weight spread is less.

1,000 RWS brass = Total weight spread 1.1 grs, Average weight 101.7 gr.
Separated in 2 lots, total weight spread .28 gr. in one lot (101.1 gr.) & .16 grs. in the other (102.2 gr.).

Used the $$$'s I saved in brass to buy Berger bullets for my switch-barrel b/a Stevens rig.

My $0.02.

Been looking for a source of centerfire RWS ammo, or at least brass, in .30-06 for some time now.

Care to point a fella in the right direction?

Meh... I found that an IVI 5.56 case when FL sized, trimmed, reamed, chamferd and neck turned for uniformity when filled with H4895 and a 75gr AMAX and touched off by a CCI BR shot just as well and consistently as Lapua from my boring old Stevens 200...
