Mil-spec tape

Gorilla Tape.

No idea if it's "mil-spec" (whatever the f mil-spec tape might be). But definitely stronger than standard duct tape or gaffer's tape. The outermost layer (it's a multi-ply), has a woven cloth texture to it, great for grippiness.

Will definitely leave a residue, though.

Comes in black. Also comes in cammo, if that's your thing.

I tried that tape for the first time. Its good but not good as gun tape.

Yup....good ol dark green gun tape. Love that ####. It does leave a residue, if you can get it all off.

I had good luck getting it off using %99 isopropyl alcohol and a nylon brush. Just had to be careful not to use to much or too much force, as you could damage the finish on your rifle or the colour of the hand guards. Don't use this method if there is paint on anything though....like painted hand guards.......

Same here, what a mess to remove.

I've seen the tape you are referring to on some old military gear I got. I seen green and sticks like crazy to cloth. I wanted some before but never could find the stuff I wanted.
