Mil-spec vs Commercial butt stock

Hello,
I'm thinking about replacing the butt stock on my AR.
Is there a way to tell if I have a Mil-spec or Commerical stock? I'm assuming it makes a diff if I'm shopping for one to fit my AR?
Also, is there anything else that needs to be changed for the swap?

if your stock is a 6 position most times a quick way to tell is the shape at the end of the extension, a commercial is at an angle and a mil-spec is flat. for your remaining parts they are interchangeable.

I guess I could has included the following info....
I have a Dlask DAR701 complete lower.
Undergiver, when I extended the 6 position stock the AR sits on the butt plate on a slight angle. I guess I have a Commercial?
I'm not even sure how to take the stock off (yet).

Its easy and available on you tube. Just unscrew the lock ring and the end plate will come with it, just watch you don't loose your takedown pin detent and spring.

Ok, I think I've got it! Now its off to the EE for a "new" stock....
