This stupid milspec label is getting out of hand. TAVOR is only made by IWI, and less than a handful of foreign licensed companies. It is not an AR that everyone and its dog make a copy.
All the TAVORs are semi auto commercial, there isn't such thing as "milspec" TAVOR, if we want to hear the truth.
What is the difference with the Generations of the Tavor? 1.5? 2.0? 2.5??
Why is it that some Gear Head Works rails will not fit the IDF version? Are any of the IWI US versions IDF?
Had to be made BATFE compliant, and also 922r compliant. Only difference to the end user aside from the obvious barrel length difference is qd cups instead of paracord holes, odg being a color option and a Harrisburg stamp on the side.I might have been looking for info in the wrong spot. Thanks for the reply.
Why would the SAR21 be different then the Isreali (Canadian) models in the first place?
And what about these rumors that IWI US won't be sending any TAVS (SAR 21?)North of the border?
onetwentyish said:All Tavor Tar-21, Sar-21 and x95 are Israeli made, even the US production. Harrisburg just swaps out some minor parts for US made ones for 922r compliance before the rifles are distributed to retailors.
Production of the Tar-21 (more recently called the Tav-21) is ceasing in favor of streamlining commercial production lines. One for the Sar-21 and one for the x95, both of which will produce US and Canadian rifles, with the only main variance being the barrel length, and the american ones marked Harrisburg.
Our current Tar-21 line will be replaced by the US Sar-21 model with Canadian compliant barrels. The most noteable changes to the end user will be the addition of ODG color and the replacement of the "para-cord sling holes" with QD cups, both positives in my opinion. The rifle will remain Israeli produced, direct import, no US 922r parts (not a big deal anyways).
In other words.... no difference other than barrel length and a stamp that says Harrisburg.
This has been discussed at length. But here is the short of it.
Gen 1.
-Canada ammo import
-fixed mepro M21, no top rail
Gen 1.5.
-Canada ammo import
-short top rail instead of fixed sight
Gen 2.
-North Sylva import
-full length top rail
-1/2 way through gen 2 life cycle holes were added to the mag well to accept 9mm conversion mag adapter
Gen 2.5
-North Sylva import
-updated trigger pack with approx 8lb pull
-updated bolt carrier/gas piston
The GHW rails marketing materials are refering to the the US SAR-21 IDF model, which like our Gen 1 has a fixed mepro m21 and no top rail.
