I have a heavy bill bladed machete marked CF&F 1942 and there is a diamond with a G in it. Can anyone tell me anything about this?

Any pics?
That .. &F could be "et Frères" meaning "and Brother(s)"
I know many heavy gauge machetes were made for military use in French Guyana and Central African French colonies.
What length, thickness and shape is your machete?
PP.

more info

It is a forged, curved blade with a tang. The tang passes completely through the wooden handle and is about 6" long. The blade is 1/4" thick at the handle and about 1 1/2" wide. It broadens to more than 3" wide and is
11" long. The final 3 or 4" curves sharply, like a toucans beak. The cutting edge is the inside edge of the curve. The handle is plain wood with three ribs near the but end. There is an iron band at the blade end, and an iron cup over the but end. The tang protrudes through the wooden handle and has a washer and nut securing it. The whole thing weighs almost 3 lbs.

I have a couple of those beasts, one with the C broad arrow and one without. The most technical term I have ever heard for them is the "Canadian Chopper". I haven't found them in books anywhere, but one of the two I have was purchased shortly after WWII in a Toronto military surplus store by my father when he was a kid. They seem to turn up very rarely at gunshows or antique shops. I have never seen a proper scabbard for one.

A billhook used for clearing brush. I've read that tank crewmen would occasionally use them. I don't know the meaning of the markings.

How about some photos you guys? I am a knife nut a history buff and love CF gear and have a real soft spot for machettes so this is right up my alley.

Here are the two I have. I have seen a couple of others, all with the same grip.

What I think is a C broad arrow (hard to tell 100%). Unfortunately, this mark is on the badly pitted of the two machetes.

I also came across a hatchet with the makers "Walters" marked on it, but no military proofs. There are no other markings on either machete. I do seem to recall seeing markings like others have described here on a WWII entrenching tool.
