military sights

Mildot is based on mil increments - 1 mil = 3.6 " at 100 yards
P-4 is based on MOA increments = 1 MOA = 1 " at 100 yards
Both are used for range estimation with a known size target.

Do they have a different sight picture ??? I am going to buy a scope that only has the option of one or the other. I thought the P-4 had a circle around the cross hairs. I am looking for the cleanest sight picture. I want to keep it simple. I don't really need the ranging ability, My shooting will be 100/200 Yds. Jack

The P4 or P4fine reticle is a Milrad based reticle just like a Mildot. The difference is that the P4 is in hash marks, not dots. Take a look at a NF MLR reticle, its the same idea.

P4

I was thinking of the P4 that is set up for MOA. such as Nightforce.
Given the .5 mill marks a P4 style could apply to a TMR , or a second generation mill dot.
