I am looking for some advice on the best reference books for your buck.

I have listed a couple of books that I know about would like to add to my library. If there is a better book on each of the subjects I would really appreciate your opinion?

The North Cape Outfitters book on Mosin-Nagants? $19.95

The North Cape Outfitters SKS Carbine (3rd Edition) $16.95

Men At Arms Bookshelf, Bolt Action Military Rifles of the World $69.99 Plus Shipping Looks Like A Good Book

Going to agree with small arms of the world. Also Frank De Has's book was great. first 30 rifles are going from the commission 88 rifle all the way up to the Springfield for bolt actions. he also covers all of the commercial bolt action rifles up to the 80's

Good Reference Books

I have 4 or 5 different volumes of Small Arms of the World, great books.
I bought my first one over 30 years ago when I was in College.
I find it's a good general reference book especially in assembling them.

I have the book by Frank De Has on bolt actions, he isn't specific on Mosin Nagant manufacturing or variations.

Men At Arms, "Bolt Action Military Rifles of the World", Looks Like A Good Book. I like detailed pictures they sometimes give more detail overlooked by authors.
I have a book on SKS rifles by Steven Fuller but it is mostly line drawings and is old, I am sure there are more detailed books out there.

Men At Arms "Military Rifle Assembly and Disassembly" the information in it is probably covered in Small Arms of the World.

What books would a serious collector buy?

Reference Books

Badger I have "Basic Manual of Military Small Arms by W.H.B. Smith".
Someone has a plain paper wrapper over the cover and I forgot about it. Good book I will have to check out if there is any info on the G43. My copy is in need of some attention.

If you're into Mausers, Lapin's Mauser Military Rifle Markings is a pretty decent reference. If you're looking for a detailed history, pictures of all the various variants, etc you'll be disappointed, but as a handy guide book that can fit in your jacket pocket it's invaluable, especially if you're collecting WW2 era stuff and want to make sure that the WaAs are correct on that "all matching" rifle you're eyeballing.
