I hear all of you with my sympathies. I agree with you that patience (or lack of it) can and will drive you around the bend with these Angle-Loc rings.
But (big but)... I've learned (Yoga and meditation needed for my goaltending) how to maximize them and use them for ALL my scoped rifles now.
Hey, I've won all my DCRA gold medals in Service Rifle using them so I cannot trash them. I switched entirely to them since I'm to ugly to deploy to Asskrakistan, otherwise they work for my range queen restricted boomsticks and my varmint rifles.
All I do is mechanically center my scopes (hope you bought decent glass
) by figuring out your total left to right (or right to left) windage range. Divide that in two then turn your windage knobs to that setting. Now your scope is centered mechanically.
When I install the rings on top of the Weaver or Picatinny base, I visually center the ring(s) and tighten the allen screws. This is a ball park balance.
You are now ready for sighting in. At 25m/yds, I boresight the rifle and scope with an 8" bullseye that's easy to center down your barrel with naked eye. Use sandbags of course. Now I turn the allen keys in the necessary direction, loosening and tightening as needed to move your already mechanically centered reticle.
At 50m/yds, I start using my windage knob from here. And also at 100m.
Yes, you are all correct when we can agree that many people swear AT them, and people like myself swear BY them.
And the added bonus of these (really shztty or really great, depending on you POV) rings is that they often come up for sale at greatly reduced prices so that cheap bastards like moi can pick them up and outfit all my boomsticks. Yeeeha! LOL
Use what works for your budget, patience, comfort level, and finally most important: your LCV (looks cool value).
