Millet DMS-1 Scope for M14?

I've been contemplating a scope for my M14.
I have a UTG mount with the rear rail that replaces the stripper clip guide.
She'll be a multi use rig for hunting dear and moose as well as the occasional 50-200yd shooting.
Was thinking about a red dot, but I would like some input regarding the DMS-1 on an m14.

Beware the temptation to hope one gun will do everything for you. The most common problem with Norinco M14s is the receiver geometry and scope base grooves will not do well with USGI scope bases. (The USGI ones have the same problems too.) You will have to try any scope base long enough to know if it will keep its zero after handling, a few hundred rounds of recoil and temperature changes across the seasons. But on the bright side, your rail is probably a better choice than a simple single screw tighten-and-pray mount.

I have the same set-up you are looking to achieve. No problem with either the Millett DMS-1 scope or the way it is mounted to the rifle....

For the same price range, you could go with the Leatherwood/Hi-Lux CMR 14x24, Of similar design but with better Turrets and graticule....

i have a dms on a ar. It is a compromise between a red dot and a 4 power scope with cross hairs. It is no problems to see 6" plates at 300 m but it is slower than a speed dot up close .No problems so far

What rings did you end up using and where did you get the scope?

I was also looking at the Leatherwood/Hi-Lux, but there is a 80-100$ difference...

Yep.
Get a pair of buttler creek flip up cover's that fit. Then there is a set of 3 or 4 two number pair's on the inside. Then go here & find 1 with that set of number's;

Funny I should read this thread as I asked about this scope for my M14 build on CGS ... I'm seriously considering one after all the good comments from folks. :D Whats the deal with the killflash thingy? :?

I just received my DMS scope today and it appears solid, the reticle is interesting as I've never had a scope with one like this and got a set of UTG 30mm medium height rings to use on my install so I can remove to use Iron sites if wanted. The only downside I've seen so far is the covers ... the front one is a piece of sh$% but the rear cover seems solid and doesn't fall off when i open it. Hope to get this mounted up soon and off ot the range.
